holidays: A Nog or Two for You - December Cheer for All to Hear - 12/07/20 03:05 PM
It's the time of year when visions of sugar plums dance in the air. Soft, twinkling lights glow with warmth and good cheer. The clean and invigorating scent of pine trees and branches tickle noses with pleasure.

The holiday season is a favorite at our house. While it's different this year with no guests coming by to enjoy the decor, we're still embracing the season with joy.  We've surrounded ourselves with favorite decorations that only appear during this very magical time of the year.

We recently took our Moose Mugs down from the upper kitchen cabinet. They are replicas of the mugs used … (29 comments)

holidays: MultiGenerational Homes in Clark County WA - Joy for the Holidays - 11/05/19 09:36 AM

We are thrilled to usher in the holiday season with upcoming sales of two MultiGenerational properties in Clark County. One of our listings, and a purchase. The sales are through the inspection process and all parties, plus our team, are working hard toward a move-in date prior to Thanksgiving.

Selling Viewhomes™ in Clark County (homes located in Nature with serene views and plenty of "elbow room for the soul™") is always a gift, but the added pleasure of working with several generations can be especially heart-warming. In one case, three generations are living under one roof.

Multigenerational properties require a lot of patience, as well as respect … (14 comments)

holidays: 2018 Holidays at Our Multi-gen Home - It's Almost a Wrap - 12/30/18 08:00 AM
Many of our friends and colleagues have asked how we are doing managing the holidays this year. You see, it's the first holiday season without dad. Naturally, he is missed and mom has moments where her emotions get the best of her. She's not alone in that, but, overall we're doing well.
For the first time since I was a child, mom and I decorated our tree together. We drank herbal tea, listened to Christmas music, and had fun sharing stories about the ornaments as we placed them in the branches. I know dad would have loved watching us share this special task.

Bernie and I did manage a quick getaway to … (22 comments)

holidays: Defining Home - 12/16/17 09:48 AM

Have you ever wondered how many songs there are with the word "home" in the title? We know there are quite a few, but couldn't find a definitive answer when we did a search. Nonetheless, it's easy to understand why songwriters pen lyrics, and titles, paying homage to the place where we feel the most connected. It's quite romantic.
The Merriam Webster description of home as a noun, is rather lackluster.

The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.

Home means so many things, but at the heart of it is well, the heart. It's where we surround ourselves with the … (33 comments)

holidays: Warm Winter Wishes from ViewHomes of Clark County - 12/22/16 01:55 PM
Kindness is like snow, it beautifies everything it covers. - Kahlil Gibran
We have been celebrating the holiday season with Nature As Neighbors™. December snow and cool temperatures have given us many delightful moments. We even caught ourselves dreaming of a White Christmas, and it’s likely going to come true. Not here in Clark County though, we’re heading to Bend, Oregon tomorrow to spend Christmas with our son’s family. There’s so much more magic in the air when you celebrate the holidays with children. We did want to take a moment to thank you for your support, business, and in some cases, friendship. … (15 comments)

Homes for the Holidays - Selling the Season
The holidays are a busy time of the year. It's understandable to assume that real estate buyers are too busy to search for a new home, but that's not always the case. December has often been one of our busiest months, and this year is no exception. We're closing four homes this month, and helped a client secure a new-construction home that will be ready next year. Two of our listings went Pending in two days! We're also working with several new buyers who want multi-generational homes, and a … (14 comments)

holidays: News and Views of Clark County - Sip and Shop in Downtown Camas - 11/18/15 09:40 PM
News of Clark County - Holiday Sip and Shop in Camas!
As I left my appointment last night at Nico Bella, Camas was looking very festive with white lights twinkling from branches of the many trees that line the streets. I had a chance to stop into Camas Antiques which is filled with interesting decor and gifts, plus Lizzabeth A had their display windows filled with gorgeous Holiday decor. I also learned there is something special being added to the celebrations in December.
On Thursday, December 3rd, the Downtown Camas Association introduces a new event - The Holiday Sip and Shop from 5PM to 9PM. It’s an after … (18 comments)

holidays: News and Views of Clark County - An Ode to November 2015 - 11/01/15 12:26 AM
An Ode to November 2015

Several years ago, 2011 to be exact, I was feeling creative on the 1st day of November.  I figured it wouldn't hurt to revisit this old post again.  The holiday season makes me nearly giddy. The warmth of decorations add to the magic moments spent with family and friends. Leaves are strewn about our yard after a rainy windstorm, and it looks perfectly fall-like this morning. Hope you're having a great start to this new month and are also looking forward to the holiday season.   Happy Sunday.

holidays: Piano recital, a leopard, an audit, and a Birthday! - 12/17/14 06:03 AM
What a week - and I’m missing my Rain time.  We’ve been to Bend, and back, for a granddaughter’s first piano recital and a grandson’s first play. Needless to say, the family (kid) time put us both in a festive mood. Today is my husband’s birthday, and the celebration continues at home.
The Carol of the Bells with Miss Margaret on the pedals.

The mighty leopard ponders his next move.

Not even a routine audit from the Washington Department of Licensing can put a lid on our joy. Although admittedly, news of the audit did come close. Needless to say, we’re busy as … (18 comments)

holidays: Home Sellers - Deck the Halls or Festivus during the holidays. - 11/20/13 12:29 AM
Home Sellers - Deck the Halls, or Festivus for the holidays. If you’re selling your home during the holiday season, there’s normally the question of decorations. Is is wise to deck the halls, or is it better to keep the holiday specific decorations in storage?
There is a general consensus that it's best to keep the decor more neutral, as in a winter theme, not Christmas or Hanukkah specific, or even Festivus. Personally, I disagree and feel that you have the right to celebrate the holidays your way.
Tasteful decorations and thoughtful decisions for Holiday Home Sellers.

holidays: Trash Talk 2013 - Clark County, WA Holiday Schedules - 11/19/13 12:43 AM
Trash Talk 2013 - Clark County, WA Holiday Schedule It’s that time of year again when it's time to talk trash. From Thanksgiving through New Years Day, waste increases by more than 25% in most households. It’s mostly food, shopping bags, product packaging, and gift wrap.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the additional debris adds up to an extra 1 million ton of trash a week. Obviously, efforts to recycle some of our holiday trash is a good plan. Let’s all try to reduce, reuse, and recycle to benefit our community and the environment.

The 2013 Holiday Trash Schedule … (13 comments)

holidays: The Crazy Target Lady is gone. - 11/20/12 10:30 PM
The Crazy Target Lady Have you noticed? The seasonal TV commercials featuring the Crazy Target Lady are gone this year. No more feverish and obsessive countdowns to Black Friday. Chances are, you either loved her or hated her. The Crazy Target Lady is actually an actress and stand up comic by the name of Maria Bamford. Bamford has appeared on Comedy Central and is best-known for her odd voices - including a cartoon series done for “Adventure Time.”
Crazy smart marketing or just crazy? The weirdness of the Crazy Target Lady ads appealed to me - manical singing of favorite seasonal … (21 comments)

holidays: So long, Summer - Fall arrives today. - 09/23/11 02:33 AM
So long, Summer, Fall arrives today.  The offical start of the autumnal equinox was 5:05 AM EDT. The fall and spring equinoxes are the only time the sun crosses the celestial equator - it rises exactly due west and sets exactly due east.
From now on in Camas, Washington, the temperatures drop and our days get shorter. All around us are signs of a change. You may notice that the arc of the sun is much lower now in the sky as it shifts toward the south.
Birds and butterflies are migrating southward too, following the path of the … (23 comments)

holidays: Back to School in Camas Washington - School Calendar - 08/14/11 09:40 AM

Want to make this year’s start to another school year less traumatic and dramatic? Get organized!  A little planning now will make the transition from summer, to “back to school”,  quite a bit easier.

Planning a central “Back to School” - Camas School Calendar can make everybody’s life run more smoothly. It also can take a lot of the stress and worry out of keeping track of all those after school events, activities and practices. Not to mention, teacher in-service and holiday schedules. Make sure you choose a calendar with large areas or squares which will allow you … (11 comments)
