love: Just Another Thankful Sunday at Home

Sunday is one of the most enjoyable days we spend at home. Often, Bernie prepares a succulent roast chicken, steamed sweet potatoes, and a green salad for dinner. That's because it's one of mom's favorite meals. Speaking of mom, she's been enjoying the NCAA tournament. Yesterday, she went downstairs to watch the game with my sister and brother-in-law. She was disappointed when North Carolina won, and she's still grousing about it this morning. Like many, she's especially sad for Coach K. One of our favorite movies is a British comedy-drama called, "About Time." The premise, on his 21st birthday, a young man learns from his father he has the ability to travel back in time. Apparently, it's a gift that only the men in the family get to enjoy. However, they can only visit a place or time they have already lived. He is discouraged from using the ability to seek fame or fortune, and decides instead to use it to find love. The trips back in time are often funny, some are bittersweet. Let’s face it, busy lives can get in the way of our important couple time. While my husband and I try to be mindful of making our relationship a priority every day, life happens. “Fishbait”, “Half-pint” and “Me-too,” all nicknames from oh, so many years ago.
