movies: Academy Awards 2019 - Sunday Evening Plans at our Multi-Gen Home - 02/24/19 09:59 AM

Yes, we will be tuned into the Oscars this evening. Mom too. There's chilled bubbly in the refrigerator, and Chef Bernie is preparing Poulet Rôti - award winning, perhaps.  We are already wondering who will win, and if we'll agree with the choices. Entertainment is often quite subjective, in our opinion.

For example, Bernie is not a fan of musicals. His take? It's unrealistic to believe we go through life singing to one another. He gets bored quickly. Therefore, the popularity of the box office hit, "La La Land," completely baffled him. Yet, most people were shocked when it didn't win best picture.

Apparently, fewer and fewer people are tuning … (18 comments)

movies: A Skeptic's Guide to Hallmark Christmas Movies - 12/21/17 11:37 AM

Bernie here again. You may have read about my lack of enthusiasm for Hallmark Movies in a previous post. Admittedly, there are a few nice stories with positive messages about family and love, but overall, they tend to be treacly. Seriously, borderline nauseating.

Girl grows up in a small picturesque town in ____________ (Vermont, Oregon, Canada...).

Leaves behind ____________ (family, dog, boyfriend, secret admirer...) to move to __________ (New York, Chicago, Big City...).

Has an illustrious career as an accomplished _____________ (lawyer, architect, brain surgeon...) but has to return to her home town for … (37 comments)

The trips back in time are often funny, some are bittersweet. There are always lessons to be learned.  In fact, the underlying message of the … (37 comments)

movies: Movies in the Park! - Toy Story 3 at Crown Park in Camas - 08/23/11 04:02 AM
Join Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the Toy Story gang (remember no toy gets left behind) this Friday for Movies in the Park! at Crown Park in Camas. If you haven’t seen Toy Story 3, you’re in for a sweet and emotional experience. The entire family will love this one - but, if you’re like me, expect some wet eyes as you remember (or consider) the day your own child left for college.

Toy Story 3 is the final feature in the Movies in the Park! series at Crown Park in Camas. As usual, the fun gets … (6 comments)
