washougal: Zumba Anyone? Camas Community Center - 09/26/11 01:33 AM
 Zumba Anyone? Camas Community Center.

Are you ready to ditch the workout and join the party called Zumba?   I’ve been told by a fellow Realtor (Richard Yates) that I should consider Zumba as an alternative to running. Apparently, since I’ve recently fallen, (Oops, I did it again), actually twice this summer, (Help me I think I'm Falling), he thinks it might be a safer alternative. However, I think that if you have problems keeping upright while putting one foot in front of the other, imagine how dangerous it could be by adding more complicated motions to the process? washougal: Cottonwood Beach - Soaking up the Final Drops of Summer. - 09/13/11 04:31 AM
Are you looking for a good beach to soak up the final drops of summer? Cottonwood Beach is a popular spot in Clark County on hot summer days. It has wide sandy beaches and easy access to the Columbia River for a variety of water activities.

The river is shallow in this area which makes it relatively warm, and perfect for splishing and splashing. You can access the beach through historic Captain William Clark Park.  The Lewis and Clark expedition camped at Cottonwood Beach for six days in the spring of 1806 - they knew a good thing when they … (11 comments)

washougal: The Name Game - Clark County Neighborhoods - 09/09/11 04:01 AM
The Name Game - Clark County Neighborhoods The names of towns and neighborhoods often reflect the local flavor and history of the regions in which we live. However, sometimes, you have to wonder what the “heck were they thinking?” Boring, Oregon, for example, is a rather odd name for a town. However, it isn’t named Boring for its widespread “yawning,” but rather, after an early resident by the name of William H. Boring. In Washington, we have a place called Humptulips. The name is said to have come from a Native American word and means “hard to pole,” apparently referring to … (26 comments)

Washougal, Washington Market Report, Summer 2011 - A Great Spot to Camp. (Permanently)
Lewis and Clark knew there was something special about Washougal. They set-up camp, not far from where the little town sits today, on the banks of the Columbia River in March of 1806. And, 200 years later, approximately 15,000 residents know why.

Washougal's motto is "Gateway to the Gorge," and visitors arriving via Highway 14 can see Mt. Hood rising in the distance. It has small town charm, offers good  housing values and is rich in recreational opportunities.

One of the towns highlights is the … (12 comments)

Energy Efficient Light Bulbs - Enough to give Edison a headache.

Here’s a bright idea. Let’s try to make the purchase of energy efficient light bulbs a little easier for consumers. Remember when buying a light bulb involved the simple choice of brightness? Well now you need to know about volts, lumens and kelvins, understand the terms omnidirectional and unidirectional, and know the difference between CFL’s, LED’s and Halogens.

There are now endless choices of energy efficient light bulbs crowding the aisles of your favorite store. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for energy efficiency and welcome … (32 comments)

What I remember about life in Fairbanks is moose in the … (18 comments)
