gratitude: Grateful for An Amazing, Mountain-Moving Team - 11/30/19 09:28 AM
Grateful for An Amazing, Mountain-Moving Team
We should have suggested 10 gratefulness posts this year! I had a difficult time leaving any of the things for which I am grateful, out of my posts! That said, here's my last post for the challenge...Time to meet the team that makes my life complete!

*Pictured:  Scott, Me, Elizabeth & Christina

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a great team to break through that proverbial glass ceiling!  For me, I hit that ceiling for several years and could not, for the life of me, figure out how I could add more hours in a day - 7 … (13 comments)

November Gratitude - Grandparents - The Wind Beneath My Wings
If you haven't seen this heartwrenching video, do take the minute or so to watch...
This reminded me of my own grandparents and how they so positively shaped my life - in fact, all four of my grandparents did. I spent summers with my grandparents each year and loved every minute of my time with them.

I grew up in a family of golfers - all of them but, me, of course!  We spent lots of time at the country clubs when I was with my grandparents.  The only problem with spending time at the clubs? Well, I'm left … (35 comments)

It’s that time of the year to hone in on those things for which we are ever-so grateful!
With only a few weeks to go before Thanksgiving Day, it's time again to share our Gratitude posts and Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland and me are hosting our favorite challenge of the year! We are all blessed and now is the time to express our gratitude. An attitude of gratitude is contagious and should be shared. Beginning Monday, NOV 4, 2019, you … (145 comments)

Thanksgiving Gratitude 2018
I'd like to give a big shout-out to Debbie Reynolds for hosting her annual Thanksgiving challenge. This year, we were challenged to write 10 posts about that for which we are most thankful. I'm sure you have read some of the wonderful entries - I know I have and have completely enjoyed each and every one that I have read.

Here is my list of things for which I am grateful this year...

Thankfulness - 2018 - The Good Ole US of A
Thankful for Changing Seasons 2018

Thankfulness (Day 10) - A Place to Call Home...For All
Whether you live in an apartment, a condo, a lavish single family home or anything in between, having a place to call home is something to be thankful for. And, that I am!
With all of the tragedy in the news lately and so many Californians losing their homes, I’m even more grateful for a place to call home. I hope how soon those on the West Coast are able to find a new home or find shelter while their homes are rebuilt.
I’m thankful for having a fully accessible home for my husband. Despite anyone … (36 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 4) - Finding my Soul Mate
I remember, as a little girl, dreaming of finding the perfect man to marry. I always knew that I wanted children and always knew that I wanted a relationship just like my grandparents had - filled with love and a connection to another human being, like none other.
Heart & soul, good times & bad - life with my soul mate was not to be found until after a failed marriage. I had vowed to myself that I would never marry again. I would raise my two toddlers alone and would live happily ever after!
My girlfriends tried … (39 comments)

gratitude: "Thank You" - Two of the Most Important Words in the English Language - 11/26/17 07:55 AM
"Thank You" - Two of the Most Important Words in the English Language
Remember the grandparent lessons, "Always say 'please' and 'thank you?' Gosh, as far back as I can remember, those are some of the first 'lessons' I ever learned. That, along with 'Don't ever be afraid to say, I'm sorry,' 'Don't chew with your mouth opened,' 'Elbows off the table,' 'Don't talk with food in your mouth' and, of course,  'Don't run with scissors!'
Seriously, saying 'Thank you' really does go a LONG way in our personal lives as well as in our businesses. Every single day of my life, I help my husband get … (116 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 11) - Thank Goodness for the Little Things
Time is not always on our side but, when it is, we tend to breathe a huge sigh of relief. Sometimes the little things that impact our time seem to come at just the perfect time. Things like...
Catching every green light when you’re fearful you’re going to be late if you catch even one red light.
Arriving at the coffee shop, you find your favorite barista is working and your coffee is made to perfection.
Stopping at your favorite boutique to purchase a new suit and when you pull out your card to pay, they tell … (37 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 10) - Mezmerizing Sunsets
"At sunset, Nature is painting for after of infinite beauty."  - John Ruskin
Ahhh....who doesn't enjoy a breathtaking sunset?  I'm often out and about during that time of the evening and here in Charlotte, we have some spectacular sunsets and I am often in my car, going from appointment to appointment or heading home in the evenings. It's hard NOT to pull over and stop to savor the speldor in front of me!
I also enjoy both sunrises and sunsets and try to catch them daily when I'm on vacation - especially since 99% of the time we're on … (16 comments)

gratitude: Thankfulness (DAY 9) - Flowers, Glorious Nature! - 11/20/17 08:21 PM
Thankfulness (DAY 9) - Flowers, Glorious Nature!
There are three things I love about flowers - cultivating them, appreciating the beauty of them in my garden (as well as cut and in my home) and last but, certainly not least, the gift of flowers - making someone feel special with a gift of flowers.
Just living is not enough…one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.  - Hans Christian Andersen
Happiness radiates like the one fragrance from a flower and draws all good things towards you.  - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. - Gerard DeNeryal

 Thankfulness (DAY 8) - I LOVE Charlotte!
My parents finally landed here in NC and within about a year and a half, my Dad was moved to Georgia. I grew up in a military family and when we landed in NC, I was a sophomore and by my junior year, I was being recruited to play basketball for several different colleges. My coach begged my parents to allow him to find a 'host' family and let me finish out high school here in NC, about an hour away from Charlotte. I was 16 at the time - my parents agreed and the rest is … (36 comments)

gratitude: Give Thanks This Day... - 11/18/17 11:08 PM
Happy Thanksgiving from Charlotte NC

A North American tradition, established by the Plymouth Colonists and the Wampanoag Indians, Thanksgiving is the time of year that we all reflect upon our blessings.  The Colonists and Native American Indians joined to celebrate and cooperate their harvest and to give thanks for the bounty of crops.  The creation of this tradition is one for which I'm personally, very thankful.

In good times and in bad, we have so much for which to give thanks. While you're remembering your own family this year in your blessings, pray for those who have less than you as well. Remember them as you begin … (54 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 7) - A Team that Moves Mountains
I would be remiss if I didn't share my thankfulness this year for my team! Meet the team that makes my life complete and moves mountains for me!

Always rooting for our Carolina Panther Fans!
They say that everything happens for a reason and I completely believe in that theory. My job partner from the hospital and her husband are dear friends of my husband and I. When I retired from the hospital, she moved into a medical sales career that requires her to travel quite often. … (19 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 6) - THE Best Clients a Realtor® Could Wish For
You know, if you think about it, most of us began in this business by helping someone that one of our friends knew, buy or sell a home. And, if we were really lucky, it was a double - they were selling and also buying in the area!
That is, indeed, how I began in the business and that is how I have continued over the years! Best friends referred their friends, who later referred their friends, family and co-workers and the trend has continued.
I will say that during the recession, my … (15 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 5) - Home Sweet Home
After having lived in nearly every area of the Charlotte Metro over the decades, learning the areas and fine-tuning my clientele, it was time to build our final home - well, maybe not final but, final for the moment! LOL Seriously, Ray knows that my dream is to have a lake house for the summer months and live in town during the other months. One day, that dream will come true - without a doubt!
In 2014, we had the luxury of building a home, exactly the way we wanted it - and in the exact location that … (10 comments)

Thankfulness  (DAY 4) - My ActiveRain Family
We've all heard the rhetoric out there about the various social media platforms--how some work, some don't and how much demand we have upon us to 'perform' on ALL of them.  We've read ad nauseum, various complaints about the platform being different than it has been in years past.

I'm one that is here to tell you, any experience in life is what you make of it.  So, today, I thought I'd share my gratitude for my ActiveRain  friends & family.
I've been reflecting lately about my tenure here--and let me tell you, I have a LONG history here in the Rain! Yes, … (82 comments)

Thankfulness (DAY 3) - Being Married to My Best Friend
I've always heard that happiness is being married to your best friend. I never really understood the deeper meaning of that until a few years after being married to mine. Yes, I was so very appreciative for the first few years of marriage but, I woke up one day, realizing that my life was synonymous with that old sentiment!
Ray passed the first test - being an amazing father to our boys. Anyone who is married with children understands exactly what I mean. Passing the father test is a HUGE step towards melting your heart! ;-)

Thankfulness (Day - 2) - Thank God for Little Boys...and Big Ones Too!
Those who know me, know my family is the center of my life - second only to my faith!
My boys are 18 months apart and they have been the apples of my eye since the day they were each born. Matthew (on the right) is the oldest and he embodies everything an older child typically does - he's very independent and has the biggesst heart of anyone I know. He's also incredibly confident but, has not always been that way!
Matt left for college a painfully quite introvert and we … (20 comments)

gratitude: Thankful for Health, Happiness and Home - 11/24/16 01:03 AM
I’m Thankful for Health, Happiness and Home
While I am thankful each and every day of my life, today, I began making a list of the things for which I am thankful, in order to pick one last topic to post for Debbie Reynolds' 10-day Thanksgiving Post Challenge.  I realized that was an impossible task so, I thought I’d touch on several things on this, Thanksgiving Day!
The first thing that I am grateful for is obviously my faith, which drives me in all that I do. I am so thankful for the strength and the conviction that my faith gives me, to always do … (35 comments)

gratitude: Thankful for Technology - 11/22/16 09:16 PM
On this, Day-9 of the REAL Debbie Reynolds' 10-day Thanksgiving Post Challenge here in the Rain, I share my gratitude for technology!
Okay, I admit that some days, like you, it's a love-hate relationship with technology!  Have you ever tried posting a blog to a website and had the entire creation vanish right before your very eyes?  On those days, I have a little 'hate' thing going on with my computer!
But for technology, where would we be today?  "Ahh, the 'simple' life," we say, "How we yearn for it again!"  Not so fast!  Without technology, you wouldn't be reading this!  The relationships, both here (online) in the Rain … (20 comments)
