Saturday's Shots - We Love You Like Crazy, Sweet Gracie
Gracie Rose is the purr-fect addition to the festive cheer, perched comfortably beside the twinkling lights of our den Christmas tree. With ornaments of all shapes and colors adorning the branches, I found the one that reads "I love you like crazy," perfectly positioned as if to title this post! It's clear that sweet Gracie is right at home amidst the holiday splendor!

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - Precious Silly Holiday Moments with Our Sweet Liam - 12/16/23 09:40 PM
Saturday's Shots - Precious Silly Holiday Moments with Our Sweet Liam
After a week bustling with holiday festivities, Ray and I finally had a quiet evening at home. It was extra special because we got to babysit our adorable grandson, Liam, giving his parents a much-deserved break to relish some grown-up holiday cheer. These moments are so precious, especially during the holidays!

Liam is nearing his second birthday and it's amazing to watch his personality blossom as rapidly as he's growing physically! Each moment with him is filled with new discoveries and pure joy. Our evening was nothing short of magical, filled with laughter … (17 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - Meeting Lucy 🍼💕👶 - 12/09/23 08:58 PM
Saturday's Shots - Meeting Lucy 🍼💕👶 What an absolutely joyous occasion! Today marks a milestone in my life that words can hardly capture – meeting my first granddaughter, Lucy, for the very first time. Ryan and Meagan, who reside in the windy city (Chicago), have introduced into our lives this beautiful bundle of joy - and the feelings are simply indescribable.

Holding little Lucy in my arms, feeling her gentle breath, and that sweet baby smell...AND seeing her sweet smile, it's as if the world has blossomed anew! As a Mimi, my heart swells with a pride so profound and a love … (30 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - Shh...Don't Tell the Kitties - 10/14/23 07:42 PM
Saturday's Shots - Shh...Don't Tell the KittiesWhen we adopted the two kitties and were waiting to be able to bring them home, Ray ordered a slew of kitty toys online to arrive before Jack & Gracie were welcomed to their furever home. One of their favorite toys was a 'crunchy'-sounding, flexible tunnel that was wide enough for them to run through. So, night & day, they raced through their little tunnel like roadrunners!

Then along came the puppies - and they too, loved the tunnel. Whether it be K9s or felines, there was always a furbaby always playing in it. There were … (12 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - A Spectacular Charlotte Sunset - 05/27/23 09:49 PM
Saturday's Shots - A Spectacular Charlotte Sunset
We had several great sunsets this week but, I particularly loved this one. A stormy day was coming up so the clouds were dark but, the combination of the dark clouds and the brilliant reflection of the sun behind them was truly breathtaking. Of course, our ONE 'odd' shaped tree always seems to make it to the foreground!
Tonight we had a dark, rainy evening and with no sunset to watch, we enjoyed dinner out and reflected on our past sunsets in pictures.
Hope you're having a lovely holiday weekend...

Saturday's Shots - Finally, A Night Without Rain!
We are a bit water-logged here in Charlotte but, hey, it's a great thing for our lawns, flowers and gardens! As for sunsets - not so much! We loved this evening's sky and what made it all the better, we were babysitting our sweet Liam tonight. So, we were gifted a double bonus this evening!

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - And You Thought You'd Seen It All! - 03/25/23 09:04 PM
Saturday's Shots - And You Thought You'd Seen It All!It's been a celebratory week with the brokerage change and all that entails - as well as the market going like gangbusters right now! I took my showing agent and my assistant (The Maxwell House Group!) out to lunch near our new office.
We took a survey recently to see what the hottest spots near our new office were for a client. Hands down, Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria was the #1 recommendation for lunch. And, it did not disappoint! I had to share our appetizer with you...
This was ordered because it … (16 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - Reflections of a Beautiful Sky - 02/05/23 09:47 AM
Saturday's Shots - Reflections of a Beautiful SkyOftentimes, the sun setting over the water doesn't reveal the deeper, more intriguing colors & 'design' if you will, until about 5 minutes after the sun has actually moved behind the treeline.

Ray and I have this 'routine' of him calling to check on me if he knows I'm out of appointments or have left the office. He wants to remind me what time we'll be seeing the sunset - AND, if he thinks we're going to have a good one that evening!

I'll admit to not stopping to pick up dry cleaning or making any … (11 comments)

Saturday's Shots - Too Pooped to PopThis little girl plays hard, dreams big and loves loads! Maddies 3 feline siblings keep her on her toes - and she loves every minute of it! When it's time to revitalize, it's no telling where you'll find Mattie. It's oftentime not in the most comfortable place in house either!

saturdays shots: Saturday Shots - The Calm after the Storm - 01/27/23 10:34 PM
Saturday Shots - The Calm after the StormOur recent days & weeks have been filled with craziness, sadness and a LOT of stress. It's been a week of storms & cold here in Charlotte but, last evening, we had a nice, calm, relaxing evening, watching the sunset together. Peace filled our hearts, as did the awe of the gorgeous artwork in the sky.
Life really is good and each day, I am so very grateful for life - both personal and professional. #BlessedBeyondMeasure  #LivingLifeToItsFullest

Saturday's Shots - One Comfy Poochie!
I've never seen a fur baby that could get so comfy SO quickly! Madelaine can fall asleep at the drop of a hat - and does. We find her uber comfy in the most 'unusual' spaces.
*And, yes, she owns my last pair of Uggs - they belong to her! It keeps her from snagging my current pair!!

Hope you have the 'comfiest' of weekends!!

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shots - Incredible Foliage in Charlotte 2022 - 11/26/22 09:48 PM
Saturday's Shots - Incredible Foliage in Charlotte 2022I mentioned to George Souto that I often thought of him when I awaken to a gorgeous fall foliage show. I don't always capture shots of our view but, on occasion, I remember my camera when I head out for my morning walk.
Sheri Sperry - MCNE® wrote a post of gratitude about fall in Sedona which also reminded me to share our spectacular foliage this year!
This was not taken this week but, we are still seeing brilliant reds this week which, North Carolinians will tell you, historically means we are in for a cold … (13 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday Shots - Fall Sunset in Charlotte NC - 10/15/22 11:02 PM
Saturday Shots - Fall Sunset in Charlotte NCWe have always been sad to see summer go but, it's even harder to say goodbye to summer since living at the lake. I noticed this year that we are making extra efforts to make it outside to enjoy our sunsets to ease the pain of summer's end!
Now we don't always have amazing sunsets but, I've also been trying to turn the computer off for a spell and join hubby for some 'us' time each evening. Now, even if we have, what we call vanilla sunsets (not a lot of color), it's still a … (20 comments)

saturdays shots: Saturday's Shot - Atlantic Coast Sunrise 2022 - 09/10/22 10:55 PM
 Saturday's Shot - Atlantic Coast Sunrise 2022
Our family has a home on the coast in Pawley's Island. We visit annually and feel so blessed to enjoy a week of disconnecting from 'reality' on one of the most beautiful islands in the US. We love that it is so non-commercial and that the beach is never packed with people as many of the other beaches in our area are.
Arising early to capture the glorious east coast sunrises is a must and many are simply breathtaking. I always look forward to the next one! We love having a place to fly our American … (10 comments)

Saturday's Shots - Progress at Every Turn
Our contractor and friends (and family!) who are helping put this massive ramp together, have made remarkable progress this week. Today was finalizing one leg of the ramp. With lots of help today, we accomplished about a week's worth of work.
The flooring that is laying on the ramp is not the finished product but, that will be the next step. I think we'll be getting Ray to the dock by next weekend!

Happy, happy, Saturday!

Saturday's Shots - Purple Hydrangeas

Does anyone else love a full-bodied purple hydrangea? I surely do! And now is the season to enjoy them all around Charlotte.

Want to change your pink hydrangea to purple?

In an acid soil, the pH causes the hydrangea to lean toward blue and purple hues. By lowering the pH, you can achieve the blue and purple colors - sometimes both on the same shrub. To lower the pH, add aluminum sulfate to the soil around the hydrangea several times each year.
*Check with your local garden center for more specific instructions and the product to use.

Saturday's Shots - Lilies in Bloom

Watching my garden grow is something that I enjoy every day of the year. Digging in the dirt and planting seedlings, going through those long (years) for some flowers to mature to their fullest potential...and then...
Lilies are one of those long-awaited rewards - but, certainly well worth the wait. Their vivid colors and full blooms last a long time during late spring/early summer. Here is a sample of one of our long-awaited lily rewards in our backyard.

Saturday's Shots - Majestic Charlotte Sunset
I always seem to spot these breathtaking sunsets while in major traffic, unable to pull over and get a great shot of the beauty that is in front of me! After a listing appointment one evening this week, I spotted the most incredible sky - reds, pinks, oranges and yellows - all on a striking blue background filled with rows of small, billowy clouds with the church in the foreground.

Saturday's Shots - Through the Eyes of a Cat
As lovers of birds, Ray and I enjoy keeping the bird feeders full so that our backyard will be filled with birds, eating from the feeders and drinking from the waterfall. The robins & cardinals even enjoy bathing in the fountain, drying off on the rocks beside the waterfall.

But, there's one member of our family that enjoys watching the birds more than Ray & me - Charlotte (our cat)! The back of our house is all windows so that we can enjoy the backyard nature. We often spot Charlotte on the veranda watching the birds or … (26 comments)

Saturday's Shots - Panther Blue Butterfly
Every visit I pay to my Pilates instructor, I find a new intriguing bit of nature as I'm going in & leaving. She has some of the largest Butterfly bushes I've ever seen at her entrance and I rarely see butterflies there.

This beautiful butterfly was spotted on the ground 10-feet away from the butterfly bush - he just didn't know yet what he was missing! Of course, I was drawn to coloring too - Carolina Panther blue!

Happy Saturday everyone!
