Speechless Sundays - Gracie's Front Row SeatSweet Gracie finds every moving object (leaves, birds, bugs, lizards, ducks, geese...) outdoors. Just when you think she's asleep, she's on high alert, hoping whatever it is she spots, will somehow make it inside, through the window or glass door!
She is obsessed with finding the best seat in the house to be able to capture the best view of whatever is moving outside.

Speechless Sundays - A Christmas Eve to Remember
One of my best girlfriends and her family are so very special to me (and my family). Kim is more like a sister to me than a friend. We worked together as nurses, years ago, and have more 'stories' to tell than you can even begin to imagine! We laugh, cry, support, love and even vacation together.
My husband and I rarely do anything with anyone outside of immediate family on Christmas Eve but, this year, because of a 'pending' grandbaby (due 12/19), we weren't going to celebrate our normal Christmas Eve family event. So, … (35 comments)

Speechless Sundays - Still, the Best GiftA couple of weeks ago, I got my trees up and foyer decorated but, still had to put gift boxes under the tree. I decided that if I didn't put the 'faux' boxes under the tree, that would prompt me to be quicker about wrapping this year. Gracie has been seen under the tree on the comfy, padded tree skirt...well, until this weekend!
I got lots of gifts wrapped and Gracie found her way back to the tree - but, on top of one of the gifts. And, Gracie remains, the best gift under the tree!

Speechless Sundays - Spectacular Sunset #203!Okay, so I probably haven't posted 202 previous sunsets since we moved here but, I have taken at least 5 times that number of photos!! I am mesmerized by our sunsets and love sharing them. Each night is not spectacular but, still calming and a great time to wind down from a busy day.
Tonight's sunset did not disappoint! We watched and then headed out to deliver some donations to a local charity, hopefully just in time for the holidays for someone.

Speechless Sundays - Early Sunset in NovemberThese early sunsets are killing my calendar but, I'm enjoying the ones we are seeing on Saturdays & Sundays! Todays show took place during the Carolina Panther/Arizona Cardinal game. So, thankfully, it wasn't a nail-biter and I was able to snap some good shots of today's pink sunset behind the red & orange fall foliage!

Speechless Sundays - Sunset #14It's been awhile since I've posted one of our fabulous NC sunsets but, we are excited to see the sun shifting back to the left, which offers better views for us. As we head into fall, we are excited about the super-spectacular pinks & purples that we saw during the fall & winter last year.

Celebrating Charlotte becoming the 16th largest city in the nation this week. It's such a gorgeous place to live, work, worship and play. It is no surprise to me that we are overwhelmed with relocating buyers!

Speechless Sundays - Speechless Skies
Ray and I took a leisurely boat ride this evening and not too far into it, a huge bank of large, black clouds rolled in. We returned home, made dinner and fully expected to do our reading and writing after dinner. About an hour before sunset, the skies brightened up and we had a perfectly lovely sky show.
I think the fact that the gorgeous sky was totally unexpected, is what made it even more beautiful for us. You know, we love our sunsets!

Many moons ago, in college, the bar to reach was whether or not there was something to write home about or not! Well, as an adult, I have joked many times about this level of measurement! Another Speechless Sunday - Avocado Toast
Working at a healthier-than-COVID lifestyle, I am enjoying getting 'back to basics' with one of my all-time favorites, avocado toast. I make mine different than most - with just a few healthy but, delicious ingredients. Here's the quick & easy recipe I use...
One slice of brioche, toasted (I toast it on my panini griddler)
Spread one whole smashed avocado (seasoned with garlic sea salt & smoked pepper) atop the brioche slice
Layer
- sliced tomato
- grilled salmon or Mahi-mahi or raw Nova salmon
Season with fresh shopped dill and cilantro
Optional - Top with fat-free yogurt or sour cream

Okay, it's been almost a month since I posted a sunset and I had to share this one with you! We have a relatively clear week and only one remarkable sunset! The rain stopped early in the week and we waited and waited for a sunset that wasn't a 'vanilla' one and finally got it last night! I love the rays through the clouds.

Well, it's been a long time coming but, this week we got Ray down to the dock! The photo above is of Ray and our friend, Tim (the contractor). It was very emotional and I have to say, so very rewarding. I loved being able to put in quite a few hours to help the contractor. I learned so much helping with the project, not to mention, it's been a labor of love!
*Almost finished with the pickets/railing

I thought I would use the word 'progress' in the title to alert anyone who happens to be following the ramp progress with me! (Thank you, Endre Barath, Jr.)
We are ALMOST there. We have a few more days of railing installation and then landscaping and final touches. When it warms up, I will get the ramp and the dock, both stained and be ready to move my office to the dock!!

Speechless Sundays - All in a Day's Work
I've shared a couple of posts about our mission to get Ray to the dock. I shared an update yesterday and later, our contractor sent me a picture of us working yesterday. Then another friend send me a picture that was taken earlier in the day. I couldn't believe how much work we got done yesterday! We had a good crew and it was exciting getting the 'tough' part of the ramp behind us.
Hopefully next Sunday's Speechless Sunday will be a photo of a completed ramp!

We finally received our structural engineer's plan for our walkway to get Ray down to our dock as he still has not been able to get down there. We have been planning this for months and will share that story later (it's too long for a 'Speechless Sunday' post)!
For now, we have a contractor friend who is overseeing the progress and today, if feels like we can actually see it coming to fruition!
