Travel - Breathtaking Views in Maui
When we think of traveling to Hawaii, water comes first to mind but, the mountainous views, views of the coffee fields and the volcanos are just as spectacular as the sapphire blue water. During our vacation in Hawaii and while on Maui, we took a helicopter ride tour and in my opinion, had the best views imaginable.

Living on Maui would definitely be a dream come true and I know our friend, Steven Nickens is living the life there but, if you're planted firmly in your home/city, a visit to Maui is certainly something for your bucket list. While … (25 comments)

Speechless Sundays - Sunrise at the Panama Canal

Most of you who know me, know that most of my posting is done at night - I'm a true night owl - I work all day - and most of the evening - and visit ActiveRain late at night!  6AM is REM sleep time for me!  So, when I heard that we would be passing through the locks at the Panama Canal at 5:30AM while on vacation last week, I was not about to miss that!  So, I had to hit the sack at most people's 'normal' bedtime the night before.

I actually beat the … (19 comments)

Fhoto Friday - Costa Rica Rain Forest
Besides my fascination with the Panama Canal locks, one of our favorite adventures during our recent journey to the Caribbean was exploring the rain forest in Costa Rica. The sloughs were very difficult to see, being so far up in the trees but, the butterflies and frogs were everywhere and much nearer to us! The Monarch butterflies were so striking - this is one of my favorite shots.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Speechless Sundays - Traveling Panama
One of the more fascinating parts of our journey included passing through the locks at the Panama Canal. A Frenchman's dream to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans wasn't realized for decades when the Americans finally organized and finalized his vision.  The locks and the interesting history captivated us for a day as we sailed through the Canal and spent the day in Gatun Lake.  If you've never traveled through the Panama Canal, it definitely is bucket-list worthy!

Have a great week everyone!

travel: Wish I Could Stay Here Forever - 01/19/17 04:38 AM
Wish I Could Stay Here Forever

Fabulous Views and Tiffany blue water surrounded us in Half Moon Cay as we sailed on our way to the Panama Canal.  This private island features a couple of beachside bars (only drinks and lobster are served at this one) and the name of the establishment is, "I Wish I Could Stay Here Forever."

The name of this restaurant/bar establishment certainly captured our sentiments on this gorgeous Caribbean day!

Gratitude - The Ability to Travel

Day 8 of Gratitude - Thanks to the REAL Debbie Reynolds who is sponsoring a 10-day Thanksgiving Post Challenge here in the Rain, I share my gratitude for the ability to travel.

I grew up with the most amazing father - he was most definitely a workaholic (no, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!) but, the time spent with us was QUALITY time!  There were no cell phone distractions, no computers or social media - just what you had in front of you.  We were focused on family, friendships and life.

My father always enjoyed travel.  … (15 comments)

Motivational Monday - VACATION NEEDED!
While discussing an upcoming vacation, reviewing different winter destinations to warmer climates, Ray and I were pouring over some shots from our trip to Europe in 2015.  OH, how I'm ready for a vacation!  It's been a roller-coaster year and vacations really do tend to energize you!
For many years, I didn't think I could take a vacation - now, I need at least once a year, preferrably twice!  We love to travel in the winter when it's cold at home, to a warm climate and dream of the upcoming spring weather back home.

Wordless Wednesday - A Mediterranean Sunset
Our cruise on the Mediterranean was one of the most amazing vacations we've taken!  French and Italian ports offered incredible views, stately archetecture as far as the eye could see and the most wonderful food!  The sunrises and sunsets at the various ports were out of this world as well.
