Ask An Ambassador: Wrapping Text Around a Photo

It looks better when there is a margin between your text and your photos and the text wraps around your photo. It takes a couple of steps. The blog editor has become more challenging to navigate and sometimes posts disappear.

May I suggest you write your posts in another editor like Google Docs and copy and paste it over? That way you will never totally lose your compositions. All you need to have is a Gmail account and you can have Google Docs and many other Google products. Write your post, check the spelling and then … (17 comments)

Ask An Ambassador: Why Are They Loading Slowly?

When I click on a post, sometimes I have read the whole post before the photo loads. Othertimes the photo may never load completely. If we don't see photos then the public isn't seeing them either. Think how frustrating it is for you, waiting and wanting to see the photo to fully load.

A little thing like that will cause a reader to click off and move on. The reader may never come back. The solution is to reduced the size of your photos before adding it to your blog post. I promise the view … (31 comments)

Ask an Ambassador- Is Anyone Reading My Posts?

The truth is you will not know how many people are reading your posts. No matter how many views you get, you have no assurance that everyone that clicks on your posts are reading them. If a person leaves a meaningful comment you can rest assured that they did read the bulk of it but understand that not all readers bother to leave a comment. They may have nothing to say or have no time to say it. Comments are not a measure of how many times it has been read.
That is evident by the comments … (47 comments)

Reblogs (Resharing a Post) Can Get Lots of Views Too.

First you have to understand what a reblog is. It is republishing or sharing a post through the ActiveRain network that someone else wrote. They will get attribution and a byline for their post. You can write an introduction about your thoughts on the subject or not. The entire post will be shared in its original format.

Some members do not give permission for their posts to be reblogged. There is a block in your blog settings where you can decide to allow it or not. Activating the setting allows your posts to be … (68 comments)

Mismatched Text Ruins the Look of Your Blog Post

Recently I wrote a post in Google Docs and copied it over into my ActiveRain blog editor, got everything all neat and tidy and looking good and published it. Though I proofed the way it would look in the Preview section before Publishing and everything looked fine, when I Published it the photo went away and the fonts became all different sizes, very sloppy and not appealing.

This happened to me a few years ago when I wrote my posts in Microsoft Word and copied them over. At that time I didn't know … (58 comments)

Ask An Ambassador- What is a FAQ Post?

These type posts are some of the very best posts for getting engagement. A FAQ is a post addressing Frequently Asked Questions. We know that the public tends to ask the same type of questions about the real estate business and these questions make excellent topics for your blog posts.

First, think like a consumer and how they ask questions. That is how you will want to title your post. It doesn't have to be complicated or extra catchy because they will ask the question in a more simple manner. Here are some examples of topics that … (26 comments)

Ask an Ambassador - What's All the Talk about Points?

I spoke with a brand spanking new Newbie this week and she was trying to publish her first blog post. She was having some trouble and thought maybe since she wasn't a paying member, she wasn't allowed to post. I told her that all members can post a blog. It was new blogger difficulty and she finally got it posted. See Cathi Weuve's first post here.
Then she asked what's all the talk about points? I don't know what they are for. Good question. So here are what points are all about.

Ask an Ambassador - Should I Delete My Old Out of Date Posts?

I must admit I have been tempted to do this. So far I haven't and I am going to give you the reasons why.

Most of us blog for business and hope to reach the public. We want to be found on the search engines and want our posts to rank high so we can be found and recognized as an expert in our fields.

Ask An Ambassador- What Things Should Realtors Blog About?

This is a question that showed up in the Q&A section from a newer Member of ActiveRain. When getting started into blogging it can be overwhelming. Knowing what to blog about is important especially if you are here for business and to be found on the Internet. No matter if you are a Realtor, Lender, Home Stager, Builder, Inspector or in another related field, write about what you know is the best place to start.

First, think like a consumer. What kind of things does a buyer want to know about real estate? What types of … (40 comments)
