fall: Serendipity Sundays - Fall Colors - 11/04/18 07:38 PM
Serendipity Sundays- Color is Everywhere

Fall has arrived in a big way with color everywhere I have looked this week. Fall flowers have not yet been dashed by the hard frosts and grass is still green, not yet wanting to give it up for the season. Temperatures have been regularly in the 60's but today was a true fall day of a warm sun, no wind and temps in the 40's. It was perfect and felt wonderful.
Another sign that fall is here is the shadows and the shorter days. Now that Daylight Saving Time is over, it was dark by 4:30. That felt strange today but … (12 comments)

fall: Fall Plantings Add Color When Selling Your Home - 10/20/18 08:03 PM
This is still a good time to put your home on the market. Though the grass isn't quite as green and the flowers of spring and summer are waning, there are some colorful choices to make your home have a bright exterior appearance and to catch the attention of fall buyers.
A trip to my local garden shop showed that fall plants are in abundance this year. The summer flowers and closeouts are over. Christmas trees shaped plants are beginning to arrive. Adding some colorful plants and flowers shows you care about your home and the small investment will have great returns..
Ornamental cabbages are … (15 comments)

fall: Saturday Smiles - Sunflower Power - 10/20/18 07:29 PM
Sunflowers
The end of the summer is a little sad as the bounty of flowers die off and cease giving forth blooms. Some parts of the country have already had snowflakes and heavy frosts. Most of the flower blooms are succumbing to the cold nights and the lack of extended hours of warm sun during the daytime.
However, this sunflower is not ready to let go. It is standing tall and looks unaffected by the nights we have had in the 30's and 40's. I love seeing sunflowers in their bright yellow colors. Their strong stature and color show that fall hasn't overtaken all of … (9 comments)

Mums Are the Fall Flower of Choice

Today fall arrives in Clarksville TN. Many of the summer flowers are still lingering as the fall flowers make their colorful showing. In my yard are several mums that are showing full color. I have yellow ones, deep russet red ones, purple, orange and white ones. Mums do very well in our climate.

Mums are very affordable at the garden store and when planted in the ground, will usually come back the following year even bigger and better making them a perennial. Mine tend to bloom a couple of times each year, early summer and again in the fall … (16 comments)

What's the Weather Like in Fall in Clarksville TN?

People from all over the country move here to Clarksville. One thing that they want to know is about the weather and what to expect. Fall is my favorite time of the year and has the lowest humidity and varied temperatures.

Our Fall seasons are mild though there are usually a couple of periods when the temps dip into the 30's at night. This is when you must cover your plants if you want them to survive a hard frost. Generally there will be cooler nights in the 40's and 50's and warmer days in the 70's … (7 comments)

fall: What's the Late Fall Weather Like in Clarksville TN? - 12/09/17 02:01 PM
Late Fall Weather in Clarksville TN

In Clarksville TN during the fall you may think it is still summer because temps sometimes linger in the 80's and 90's. Then wait a few days and the weather will change and the first frost comes around the first of November. Don't expect it to stay that way for good because it will again warm up and may even fool the plants and flowers which could give it another whirl.
There are four distinct seasons throughout the year. The fall is my favorite season and late fall makes me a little sad. The trees have already had their show of color and the daylight hours are … (7 comments)

fall: A Beautiful View Can Sell a House - 10/31/17 04:44 PM
Breathtakingly Gorgeous

This is the view across the road from a home I was showing. Though the trees were not in the yard of the home for sale, the view was free and a gorgeous one at that. Each year this place delivers a breathtaking view.
Each home I showed was accessed both on the inside suiting the needs of the buyer and also what she saw around the home.
My buyer was all about the view. Not only did she want a pretty view from the back windows and deck, she wanted to see trees and lovely landscape when she stood on her … (6 comments)
