snow: 2018 Inclement Weather Policy for Clarksville Montgomery County Schools - 02/11/18 01:39 PM
Inclement Weather Policy for 2018
Clarksville Montgomery County School System responds to serious weather conditions by staying on the safe side and closing schools. There are some weather days tucked into the school year calendar but when those days are exhausted then holidays and school in-service days are taken away. Even extending the school day by 30 minutes a day is one of the measures used to make up the missed classroom time. Students will not get the President's Day Holiday due to school closing during the snow.

Parents are notified when school closings, delays or early closings are necessary. Other emergency type situations also … (8 comments)

snow: Serendipity Sundays - Snowed In - 01/14/18 04:22 PM
Serendipity Sundays - Slow Down and Enjoy the Snow
Winter weather has set in and Friday brought a predicted snow. This closed schools in Clarksville/Montgomery County and set children out to play in the snow over the weekend.

It hasn't warmed above the high 20's so very little melting has taken place. Schools are out for the Martin Luther King Day on Monday but another snow is expected to come later on Monday. The best advice I have is to have plenty of groceries in the house, put a fire in the fireplace and enjoy the snow.

The blanket of snow is especially pretty in Stones Manor, Clarksville, … (38 comments)

Serendipity Sundays - Ducks, Snow and a Little Paddling

The weather in Clarksville has been all over the place this week with sunshine and blue skies to rain, sleet and snow and strong winds. The mystery of weather is that even with all the forecasting, expensive radar and equipment the weathermen still can't get it right.
Today we were supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow. Then tonight the rain is to come and wash it all away. There was not more than a dusting of snow but some of the snowflakes were as big as small change.
These ducks are not bothered in the least … (33 comments)

If You Don't Like the Weather in Clarksville, Wait 24 Hours

If you don't like the weather in Clarksville, TN, stick around, wait 24 hours and it is likely to change and be something entirely different. The four seasons are just one of the reasons I like living in Clarksville. There is quality of life, beautiful landscapes, pleasant people, a lot of activities year round and a good housing market.

How Much Does It Snow in Clarksville TN?

In Clarksville TN you can expect to see four distinct seasons throughout the year. In the wintertime, there are cold days with some getting down into the the single digits. Snow is not a big problem in Clarksville and we typically only have a couple of snow occurrences each winter.

There are days of snow dusting and accumulation of a half inch to an inch. Then usually in January there is a good snow of 3 to 4 inches. There will be another good snow in February or early March. This year we have seen a big … (19 comments)

snow: The Majesty of Alaska - 06/13/15 04:12 AM
The Majesty of Alaska
After being at sea and seeing plenty of cloudy and rainy days we arrived to sunny skies and a beautiful harbor in Seward AK. The day was one of the best ones yet full of photos and seeing several glaciers. The pace is slow and easy and everyone in Alaska is there because they want to be. Many people spend summers there and feel like they are living in heaven.

snow: Stones Manor Clarksville in the Snow - 02/25/15 11:56 PM
Stones Manor Clarksville in the Snow

Does snow inhibit the luxury living in Stones Manor? Not any more than the rest of Clarksville that feels the brunt when old man winter dumps 7 or 8 inches of snow. Homeowners in Stones Manor know how pretty it is living in the country and seeing the white blanket of snow across the neighboring fields. The good news is that most of Stones Manor's streets are not hilly and it helps when trying to navigate around in the snow. Stones Manor has sledding and building of snowmen going on when schools happen to be closed. It's located in the … (19 comments)

A House Covered in Snow Can Disappoint a Buyer
This has been a very snowy year and we all know that homes do not look their best covered in snow. In fact you can barely tell what a house really looks like with piles of snow at the front door, lawns and driveways covered and roofs bathed in white.
Those areas of the country that are piled higher and deeper with snow have extra challenges especially when properties come on the market when it's snowing and sell and close when it's snowing. When snow covers the house the true look isn't revealed and … (40 comments)

snow: Do Not Forget To Clear Snow From Around Fire Hydrants - 02/18/15 02:23 AM
This is not only a safety reminder but shows good citizenship and community spirit. Clearing the snow away from fire hydrants will allow emergency personnel to gain access faster. If your neighbor needed that water or if you did because of a fire, it could save your house. Also, extend a helping hand to your neighbor by helping to clear walks or driveways. And check on the elderly in these extremely cold conditions and make sure they have heat and food.
As Roy Kelley said, pace yourself and rest as you do not want the EMS team coming to get you because of … (6 comments)
