If a buyer is interested in buying a home, they should start the process 6-9 months before the purchase. It should begin with checking their credit. If any issues are found, they can work on that immediately. However, it takes several credit cycles (every 30 days) for the credit report to update. Credit is one of the 3 C's (credit, capacity, collateral) needed with buying a home and it is very important. Having a good to excellent credit score will determine how much you will pay to borrow money-essentially your interest rate. I'm an avid reader. I love to read about technology, history, real estate, and self-improvement. I recently came across a book written by a local Broker/Lawyer in my area titled "Finishing on Top: How to achieve personal goals, become successful, and experience happiness through the power of finishing by Sherman Toppin, ESQ. In the book, the author makes mention of "Finishing Friends". He says that to achieve success you must climb a mountain and all your friends who are on the bottom of the mountain with you will think you are crazy once you start climbing.
