friends of goodstay gardens: A Sunny Day at Goodstay Gardens - 04/25/20 06:36 PM
The Goodstay Gardens are one of Wilmington's  lesser known public gardens, located  on the University of Delaware Wilmington Campus. Ellen du Pont and her husband, Robert Wheelwright (who was a landscape architect) restored the mid 17th century property in the early 1920s. The garden was originally a vegetable site, and the Wheelwrights transitioned it into the stunning iris, rose and peony paradise that it is today.
I went there today hoping to see the irises in bloom, since they are blooming in my Wilmington garden. But it seems the climate gnomes have this area tagged as "tulips featured, irises and peonies not … (6 comments)

friends of goodstay gardens: Friends of Goodstay Gardens Celebrate 20th Anniversary - 05/23/13 01:02 AM
    Last night, at an "Evening in the Garden" the Friends of Goodstay Gardens in Wilmington celebrated 20 years of being faithful stewards of this Wilmington area garden gem. The peonies and irises were in full bloom, so this festive evening with a silent auction and heirloom plant sale brought out members of the original steering committee (including ardent conservationist Sidney Craven) and supporters from all over the Wilmington area.
