Let Freedom Ring Ceremony-This annual July 4 event will take place this year at the New Castle Presbyterian Church, 25 E. 2nd St., New Castle.  Each year over 100,000 Americans participate all over the country. The guest speaker will be Syl Woodford, who will speak on Black Loyalists and Patriots of the American Revolution. . Everyone is requested to be in the church by 1:25 p.m.  18th C. garb is encouraged, and patriotic music will reign. Church bells will ring at 2 p.m. and then 13 children, (last year's photo) representing the 13 colonies will ring a smaller bell donated … (2 comments)

Start your weekend with a bang on July 1 at Fort Delaware State Park. at 12:15 p.m. witness a heavy artillery demonstration from one of the largest Civil War-era cannons that still fires on a regular basis.  Then at 1:15 join a soldier or civilian for an inspection of the fort's many rooms and areas. Meet some of the various individuals who lived and worked at the fort in 1864.

Looking for July 4th information?  Here are some local events: The public is cordially invited to attend Northern Delaware’s annual 4th of July bell-ringing ceremony. At 2:00 Eastern Daylight Time, beginning with bells in Philadelphia, bells across New Castle and across the Nation will peal, officially commemorating the birth of American Independence. Children, families, friends and neighbors of all ages are cordially invited to attend the local ceremonies, at 1:25 at Immanuel Church on the Green. The bells will be rung at 2:00 pm. Then, thirteen children, representing the thirteen colonies, will ring a smaller bell, donated to the day’s event … (3 comments)
