Tomahawk Manor, now located in Hartly, Delaware, outside of the State Capital of Dover, has a reputation and a mystery about it.  The story below has been handed down for many years and through 2 owners of the house. The good news is that over 40 years ago, a local game warden found the house languishing in a field as described above. What did he do about it? At 2:00 Eastern Daylight Time, beginning with bells in Philadelphia, bells across New Castle and across the Nation will peal, officially commemorating the birth of American Independence. Children, families, friends and neighbors of all ages are cordially invited to attend the local ceremonies, at 1:25 at Immanuel Church on the Green. The bells will be rung at 2:00 pm. The story of this Historic Delaware Home for Sale is a little out of the ordinary. Little did Thomas Lewis, descendant of Welshman Henry Lewis, know when he built a brick dwelling house in 1772, that 200 years later a Kent County Delaware game warden would buy his house and haul it away, brick by brick. Yet, this is what happened. The home, referred to in an old paper as “Tomahawk,” was reassembled in Hartly, just up the road. "Tomahawk Manor" is a classic 18th Century house on 11 secluded acres in Hartly, Delaware. It was once the Lewis Family Farm near Wyoming, Delaware. It was carefully taken down brick by brick in the 70's, and the fielded paneling in the living room and dining room was re-created from the extant pieces. A large kitchen/keeping room invites casual meals before the fireplace, and 4 more fireplaces grace the house.
