The economic analysis we have been hearing on the radio, TV and other sources have been predicting the current real estate market will flatten out and possibly start to decline by November 2018. Mid-year elections will possibly change things like interest rates, the legalization of marijuana in more states and Congressional seats. In the little corner of the world known as Fremont County, we’re starting to see the market change already.

I've been blogging on Active Rain since 2006 and it has never, ever occured to me to answer the question I get asked often.
"How you you pronounce the name Canon City?" The name of the Fremont County seat and largest city is Canon City. Pronounce it "Canyon" Population between 16,000 - 17,000. There is some debate why the name is spelled the way it is. Is Can~on City written with a Spanish influence or was it a misspelling? In Mid January, 2015 a dear friend had a heart attack. I drove from Canon City CO to Lakewood CO to see her. The entire trip I felt like I was over stearing the car, the tires were bouncing all over I-25. Frankly, I was worn out by the time I got to my destination to see my friend. Almost every real estate agent I know has at least one story that nobody will believe. We can’t talk about them, it’s really not ethical. We need to respect both the buyers and sellers we represent. We don’t talk about the sellers we’ve made appointments with and found naked, sleeping, showering. We don’t talk about the buyers who needlessly lie to us, destroy the back seat of our cars or suddenly drop out of sight.

The supply and demand for houses right now is a bit lop sided. There are a whole bunch of houses sitting for sale and little demand for them. If there is a demand for any style of home it is for an affordable home. Practical, simple, well priced homes are in demand right now. Gone are demands for the Mc Mansions, Simi Castles and over built ranches. But these places still exist. There are some real beauties out there if you are looking for the "out of the ordinary" house.
