walsenburg: Walsenburg Colorado

When you drive into Walsenburg Colorado it's like stepping back in time. There is one stop light, a couple of well known restaurants and everybody knows everybody else.
The court house and neighboring Walsenburg Miners Museum stand in the center of town. All records in the court house are kept in file cabinets not online. There is no need to call ahead for an appointment, just don't stop in at lunch hour.
The lime stone buildings are functionally obsolete, but still really serve a purpose for the community. The dates etched into the stone above the door ways are from 1886. … (9 comments)
