The Village of Pinehurst will be collecting Christmas Trees 'curbside' on a weekly basis, starting this week through February 1, 2012. So, simply place your tree curbside beside your driveway no later than 7am on Wednesday's for pickup. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

The farm in Moore County that usually has a Corn Maze isn't doing it this year...sorry, I don't know why. But, I did find one close to Pinehurst and it is a short drive North to the Sanford area! About a 30-40 minute drive. Gross Farms has a 15-ACRE Corn Maze!!! It consists of 3 different puzzles containing about 5 miles of trails through the corn field. This is a great opportunity to learn some obedience skills, socialize your dog AND help support the Moore Humane Society at the same time!!! Not to mention the benefits of spending quality time with your dog, too! I am a huge advocate of socialization & obedience training of dogs. You and your pet will live a healthier and happier life together if you take the time to learn a few basic skills.
It smells like Apple Pie in my house on this First Day of Autumn!!! North Carolina is home to many Apple Orchards... many of them in the Western part of the state, but we have some around Pinehurst, too! The apples I used today are called "Arkansas Blacks" and they are an heirloom variety from Ken Chappell's Farm just 15 minutes outside of Pinehurst. They are tart & dense when picked, but sweeten with age. I mixed in a few Granny Smith's, too.

I LOVE Football!!! And, I've been a Carolina Panther fan from Day 1! I was living in Charlotte when we got the Franchise and I try to watch every game. Needless to say, I do not hold Open Houses on Sunday's during football season. I have to draw the line somewhere, right?

Yep, just like you, I take my camera just about everywhere I go. I took these shots on a recent walk in the woods with Bazil. I just love the different shapes & colors of mushrooms Fabulous Fungus! One of these days I intend to take a class and learn which ones are edible. Do you know if these are edible or toxic??? Either way they are cool to look at...don't ya think!

A few places around Pinehurst have been advertising 'Sociable Art' events and it peeked my curiosity. So, I called up one of my new client's (who is also my new found friend) and I invited her to go with me to 'Drink & Draw' at the Mellow Mushroom last night. The event started at 6pm and there were about 25 women signed up for the class. (No men???)
