relocation package: Things To Do in Colorado In 2011 - 01/04/11 03:50 PM
If you read certain Denver area news sites or Metromix, good chance you have already read this list.  But Metromix Denver published a list of 101 Things to Do in Denver - and, man, is it good.
In fact, quite a few of their must's, I have written about and recommended as well, both here on this blog and on other sites. And on top of what I have written about or featured, I have done quite a few others as well.  But even so, I have to admit, there were a good handful that I have never heard of.

relocation package: New Hamburger Joint Coming to Highlands Ranch? - 10/04/08 02:24 PM
My blogger friend from across the country has given me a scoop to tell you about.  Cindy Jones lives in Northern Virginia, and has told her readers about one of her favorite Hamburger hangouts - Five Guys.  I actually know of them vaguely - I have family in her neck of the woods and my brother in law mentioned to me that he likes Five Guys.  My wife visited this summer and became familiar with them as well.
Well, Cindy has family here in the Denver Suburbs - right in Highlands Ranch so she has shared that her family will soon … (6 comments)

relocation package: Living in Denver ~ Gelazzi Is More Than Tasty Treats - 10/04/08 02:43 AM
Gelazzi is Much More Than Tasty Treats - They Give Back If you have been reading here for any length of time, you know that I do like to feature local businesses that I enjoy.  I have received very positive feedback, particularly from those relocating to Denver that they truly enjoy having the "local scoop" so to speak on where to head for what they are looking for.
Here is one more scoop that is too good to share.  And this time its a scoop quite literally.  For a bit I have had a new local business on my list and … (4 comments)

relocation package: Littleton Friends Craft Fair Next Weekend - 09/28/08 02:45 AM
Littleton Craft Fair Next Saturday 10/4 If you have lived in Littleton for any length of time, you for sure know how big the Littleton Friends of the Library and Museum Craft Fair is, even if you haven't been.  Generally held the first Saturday in October, it is really one of the larger events throughout the year in Littleton and this year is no exception - there will be over 300 booths.
Its been a few years since I have attended myself but I have a new generation of craft fair go-ers - my daughter now is starting to enjoy perusing … (1 comments)

Living in Highlands Ranch - Trails Are Not Just For Recreation
I have written a few times in the past about how great the trail system is throughout Highlands Ranch Colorado and how the trails in Highlands Ranch even connect to other areas such as through the Highline Canal the East West Trail and the Back Country Wilderness.  You can read some of those pieces here:
Highlands Ranch Real Estate - Firelight Neighborhood in Southridge on the BackCountry Wilderness Open Space

relocation package: Living in Highlands Ranch: HRCA Taking Memberships - 09/27/08 03:21 PM

Living in Highlands Ranch: HRCA Taking Memberships I was a little surprised to read an article in the Highlands Ranch Herald this week that the HRCA is now taking memberships from those outside of the Highlands Ranch HOA boundaries for membership.  You can read that article here.
Its not the idea that surprised me, I have heard this idea kicked around in thought speculation for some time now.  But I was surprised that it has started so soon.
HRCA has begun a program that they are offering up to 200 memberships for people to join.
Highlands Ranch is almost … (0 comments)

relocation package: Living in Denver Suburbs - Streets of Southglenn Start to Open - 09/22/08 02:04 PM
I have been driving some Denver area home buyers around lately that were curious about the construction going on at the old Southglenn Mall.  They were relocating from out of state and their current area as they put it had "ancient shopping centers".
The new development is called Streets of Southglenn and although much of the construction is still underway, some of the shops are now opened.
My buyers in particular were delighted there would be such a nice place to shop & dine nearby.

Staples and Best Buy and the Macy Home Furnishings Department opened first and Dick's Sporting … (5 comments)

relocation package: Highlands Ranch Real Estate - Firelight Neighborhood in Southridge on the BackCountry Wilderness Open Space - 08/23/08 03:02 PM
Firelight is a community in Highlands Ranch, CO.
Located in the Southridge area - Firelight is known for its higher location - some of the homes are actually on the highest lots in Highlands Ranch.  This of course provides really terrific views form many homes in Firelight of both the front range and downtown Denver.  Some folks even enjoy the sparser twinkling of the Denver Tech Center.
But one of the really nice parts of Firelight is its proximity to the Back Country Wildnerness Open Space.  The homes that back to The Back Country Wildneress truly are something to see.

relocation package: Living in Highlands Ranch - High School Football is Ready to Kick Off - 08/23/08 06:22 AM
High School Football in Highlands Ranch is big.  Really big.  With 4 high schools in the area, 3 of them play each other in football and as you can imagine the rivalries get big.  You know I love attending football if you read my post bout football in Highlands Ranch last year as well.
Fall is crisp with cool mornings and breezy nights and the lights at Shea stadium in Highlands Ranch are on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights through the end of October.
High School Football in Highlands Ranch is a chance for my own family to get out together … (0 comments)

relocation package: Rain Rain Go Away, But Until Then Here's Some Indoor Ideas - 08/16/08 04:58 PM
So you have just moved to Denver and you heard everyone and their brother BRAG about the 300+ days of sunshine.  And now its been raining since Thursday night.  Personally I am enjoying it, but I understand that going into day 3 and 4 it can get a little antsy.
Well, it sounds like we have one more day of this to get through - so here are some ideas for you to enjoy the mile hi city indoors.  You can save this list for the snowy months that will come before you know it.

relocation package: Living in Highlands Ranch - Recycle Computers & Electronics in Highlands Ranch Town Center - 08/16/08 08:53 AM
Its the time of year to recycle your electronic and computers.  The HRCA routinely organizes this event and it couldn't be coming at a better time for me.  We did have one CPU go "Poof" this year - so it is a great opportunity to get rid of it and out of my house - in proper & safe way.
The event is free, however this time around optional donations that are suggested at $20 will be taken for the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund or the Highlands Ranch Cultural Association.   There is a nominal fee of $15 to recycle small … (0 comments)

relocation package: Living in Colorado - Summer = Water World - 08/05/08 11:44 AM
As I recently wrote when summing up many of the Denver area water parks, we were making our annual visit to Water World.  We try to go once a year and the kids always have such a blast.
I try to take a day off during the week to go, it seems the crowds are a bit more manageable and I do work many weekends selling Denver Real Estate, so my kids enjoy having a week day with dad.

We actually had great weather although it did cloud up just a bit as we were getting ready to leave and … (4 comments)

relocation package: It Can Be Confusing - Province Center Is Not Highlands Ranch - 08/04/08 02:18 PM
There are a few neighborhoods adjacent to Highlands Ranch that offer some confusions at times.
One of these, is Province Center.
It is very confusing because if you were only to look at a map, it does appear that it is in Highlands Ranch, but that is not the case.  Province Center is in fact not a part of Highlands Ranch and is instead considered Littleton, CO as far as a mailing address goes.  On this same site, Localism.com - you will find Province Center also listed in Littleton, CO for mailing addresses purposes.
I have run into several … (0 comments)

Colorado Scottish Festival in Highlands Ranch This Weekend A much anticipated annual event by my own daughter - the annual Colorado Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highlands Games will take place in Highlands Ranch, CO next weekend.  On August 9th and 10th, Heritage Park will become a Scottish lover's delight as some of the best area Scottish and Irish dancer descend on Highlands Ranch along with the Highlands Games, music, ancestary tracing, food, vendors & much more.  The festival is open both days from 9:00 … (0 comments)

relocation package: Living in Littleton - Western Welcome Week is Almost Here - 07/25/08 12:49 AM
On Thursday, August 7th, the much looked forward to, annual Littleton Western Welcome Week will begin.
The events continue for 11 days, with Festival Day on Saturday, August 16th. The Festival Day includes a Children's Firefighters Parade, The Grand Parade, and the Arts & Craft Fair throughout the streets of old Littleton.
Festival Day is one of highlights of the week of course but many other events throughout the week are not to be missed as well.  This year there are 77 events scheduled.  Here are a few.  Personally, we are going to try and make it to the Hawkquest event on … (5 comments)

relocation package: Living in Denver - Day Trip to Colorado Springs - PGA Men's Senior Open - 07/23/08 10:57 AM

If you are any type of golf fan and are around Denver, you probably already know that next week the PGA Men's Senior Open will be held in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor.
Personally I am very excited about this - I received two tickets myself for the Open for Christmas, and it should be fun.  In years past I had been a regular at The International, and now that is gone it is great to get some serious golf here again.  Originally I was planning to take my son but he will now be visiting his cousins … (0 comments)

relocation package: Living in Highlands Ranch - Colorado Sunset - 07/20/08 01:36 PM
Living in Denver’s Suburbs - Highlands Ranch Colorado Sunset Last night as I was heading out the door from my home in Highlands Ranch for a walk, it looked like it was going to be an amazing sunset.  I was right.

I am lucky as I have a very nice mountain view from my home and am fortunate to see amazing sunsets on a fairly regular basis.

Living so close to the foothills, I often have the storms roll in quickly but seems like they are generally over pretty fast as well.

Last night was one of those … (7 comments)

relocation package: Highlands Ranch Living - Redstone Park - 07/20/08 04:38 AM
I have written about Redstone Park in Highlands Ranch before, I am a little partial because it is in my own neighborhood.  But the fact of the matter is Redstone Park has many great offerings for its residents and visitors.

Whenever I head to Redstone Park we have a great time.  Whether its just a stroll with the kids or the dog, a quick loop or tow or three around the park on my bike - or a longer outing to the fishing pond or playground - it is so nice to have such a great spot so close by.

relocation package: Living in Littleton - War Memorial Rose Garden - 07/19/08 05:43 PM
Old Littleton has many parts that are simply charming and if you venture off the main road just a little bit, you will run into the War Memorial Rose Garden.

This is the time of year that the gardens are just spectacular.

There are weddings and other special events here on a regular basis - the gazebo in the gardens is a perfect spot for a wedding.

The Sterne Fountains in the middle also tend to be a popular spot for formal photography.  The pictures here were taken in the end of June of this year.
