I promised myself the first day I got here that I would always take time to enjoy and appreciate the warm dry climate of the Sonoran Desert. I took an afternoon to go hiking and biking in north Scottsdale, at the Gateway Trailhead. This is a launch point for experiencing the high desert around the McDowell mountain group, in the Sonoran McDowell Mountain preserve.
