Carpenter ants are so-called because of their habit of chewing wood to create nest sites. They do not eat wood, like termites, but they excavate it with their strong, saw-like jaws to create random galleries where they nest . Carpenter ants are also a nuisance because of their abundance and large size.
 
Damage to wood caused by carpenter ants  is different than the damage to wood caused by subterranean termites. Carpenter ants chew wood with and across the grain, while termites only damage wood with the grain. Introduction The white-footed ant, Technomyrmex albipes (Fr. Smith) has been making news in Florida over the last few years as a pest ant of major importance. Pest control companies, the media and homeowners continually consult universities and government agencies for information on how to control this nuisance ant. A mosquito misting systemaround your home decreases the bug population by intermittently misting the area you define with a misting concentrate.  The misting system uses one of the following:
a low-toxicity level solution of Pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum  cinerariaefolium), which is an insecticide made from crushed flowers
a low-toxicity level solution made from essential oils 
Pyrethrum not only helps control mosquitoes, but is effective on over 200 including biting flies, chiggers, crickets, fire ants, fleas, gnats, horse flies, ticks, wasps, yellow jackets, and many other outdoor pests.   Essential oils work much the same way as pyrethrum.

Controlling mosquitoes, and exposure to diseases they may carry, can be done by chemical and non-chemical methods. Your first line of defense begins at home.
What you can do to control mosquitoes around the home  
Remove their habitat (where they live and breed) Eliminate standing water in rain gutters, old tires, buckets, plastic covers, toys, or any other container where mosquitoes can breed. Empty and change the water in bird baths, fountains, wading pools, rain barrels, and potted plant trays at least once a week to destroy potential mosquito habitats.
