burlington home stager: Burlington Lakeshore Home Staged & Leased in 7 weeks. Home Staging Before & After Pictures - 07/22/10 05:24 AM
Another one of our staging projects has just wrapped up.  This gorgeous home was on Lakeshore Road in one of Burlington's most prestigious areas; a stones throw from Lake Ontario.  It was listed for sale at $819,000 or lease at $3,000 per month.
We thought this one might be around a little longer since the market has slowed down a bit from its earlier spring bustle.  The property had been listed previously with another Realtor® and was not sold or leased.  The homeowner switched Realtors® and chose one of our Realtor® partners to re-list with.  Dezigner Digz was then brought in to do the home staging.

For those of you that have followed along and read about my family's journey through the process of selling my In-laws' home, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read each post and let me share the experience with you.  It became a staging job unlike any other I have ever done, and one that I hope I don't have to repeat for a very long time.
I promised from the beginning of this series of posts an amazing outcome.  Before I go there, here's a quick recap for anyone just joining us.  If … (11 comments)

burlington home stager: Staged & Sold For FULL ASKING PRICE: ZERO DAYS ON MARKET - Dezigner Digz Burlington Home Staging Success - 07/20/10 05:43 AM

Dezigner Digz is proud to share its very latest home staging success story.  This out-of-town property was in need of updating prior to sale.  We recommended to the homeowner that the orange broadloom be removed from the living room and that the wallpaper in the dining room be stripped.  We made many other suggestions as well that the homeowner was willing to have carried out.  This savvy homeowner realized that home staging would be necessary in order to make the property appeal to a broader range of potential buyers.
Being a small town, word was out that this property was going to be going on the market at … (19 comments)

burlington home stager: A Staging Job Close To My Heart - Introduction - 05/31/10 10:54 AM

For those of you who are a Facebook Friend, you probably read a few updates from me about a property that I was going to stage.  This one hit very close to home for me as it was owned by my In-laws.
Sadly, my Father-in-law passed away almost 3 months ago.  He suffered a massive stroke last June and pulled through against all odds.  The past year was a real struggle for him, but because of his spirit, he never gave up.  No matter how many setbacks he had along the way, he just considered them "another bump in … (17 comments)

burlington home stager: Orange You Glad You Removed the Carpet? - My Latest REALTOR Magazine Article - 05/05/10 11:02 AM

Talking a homeowner into removing worn and/or dated carpeting can be a tough sale sometimes.  I had this scenario play out very close to home recently.  We are in the process of preparing my Mother-in-law's out-of-town home for sale.  It's a beautiful home with loads of potential, but it is in need of some updating.  The main drawback in my opinion was the orange carpeting.
Recently I wrote an article about this for REALTOR Magazine's blog Styled, Staged & Sold.  The 'before' photo is shown above.  To read about my experience and see the results afterwards, click here.

You can read the article here on REALTOR Magazine's blog Styled, Staged & Sold.  Check out the before and after pictures to see the difference a few pillows can make.  I was excited to find out that my article was also published by the International Business Times and posted on their online edition - check it out here.

Prior to leaving for Las Vegas to attend RESA's International Home Staging Conference, I was asked by the Women's Council of REALTORS® to write an article about home staging for their March newsletter.  What better time to write it than upon my return from the Conference when I'm all pumped up about home staging and wanting to spread the word!  The article was just released today on WCR's website.
If you've been thinking for some time about incorporating the services of a professional Home Stager as part of your marketing plan, give this article a read.  You might find some helpful … (13 comments)

burlington home stager: RESA Las Vegas Staging Conference - A Burlington Home Stager's Point of View - 02/05/10 09:28 AM

Well, I'm a little late adding my two cents on the RESA International Staging Conference, but I have an excuse since I just got home late Saturday night.  My Sister-in-Law and a girlfriend joined me for a few more days of Vegas life after the Conference.  Must say I'm "Vegased Out" now, but back to the real reason for my blog - the Staging Conference!
We couldn't have asked for a better turnout, especially for our first conference.  Once we hit 200 attendees, Shell Brodnax managed to pull another 20 tickets out of her hat to bring our total up to a whopping 220 professional home … (20 comments)

burlington home stager: Meeting Your Client's Opposition to Home Staging Head-on - 11/16/09 10:39 AM

I had the honour of sharing exhibitor booth space recently with Karen Hubert of Center Stage Design at the REALTORS® Without BORDERS Convention and Trade Show, Southern Ontario's largest annual conference on real estate.
It was great to meet so many local REALTORS®.  Some excellent dialogue came out of the day.  There are still some REALTORS® that harbour a misgiving with respect to home staging, and a valid one I might add.  This lead me to write an article on how that can be overcome.
You can read the article on REALTOR® Magazine's online blog Styled, Staged & Sold.  Here's the link: http://styledstagedsold.blogs.realtor.org/2009/11/11/meet-your-client%E2%80%99s-opposition-to-staging-head-on/

burlington home stager: "Staging" The Home Stager - New Headshots - Can You Help Me Pick? - 07/01/09 10:39 AM
When selling your home, it's important to make a great first impression (the first rule of home staging).  The same goes for selling your business services - first impressions really count.  It's been over 2 years since I had headshots taken.  The last photos were taken by my Hubby - good thing he's so patient because I had the poor guy take tons of them.
I decided though, that it was time to have updated photos taken, and this time I wanted them taken by a professional [no offence Honey if you're reading this :-)].  Mandie took a ton of photos and narrowed it down to 17 for me to choose from.  … (25 comments)

burlington home stager: An Open House Gone Terribly Wrong - 06/03/09 11:51 AM
An alarming story out of Brampton, Ontario this week:  It seems that a woman arrived at an open house with two young boys in tow.  While the older child stayed with the agent, the younger child and the woman looked through the house.
Allegedly, she "relocated" a video-game console, digital camera, jewellery and cash - all into her purse.  The story gets worse.  This wasn't the only open house that she and the boys attended.  She has been charged in connection with thefts at 7 open houses during April and May of this year.  The two children were also arrested but later … (17 comments)
