jackson hole: Hanging the Tram

Well it's official the new Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tram has been hoisted on to the cables. The mountain has decided to keep it under wraps until the inaugural voyage on December 20th. I guess you can kind of look at it as a early Christmas present to us! Here is a picture someone snapped of it going up:

If you had come to Teton Village in the year 2000 and then not returned until this year you'd be very surprised at what has happened. In that time a complete transformation of the Village has taken place and it continues today. I don't have the exact numbers but an intelligent guess would be there has been close to $500M in investment at the Mountain Resort. jackson hole: Living In Jackson Hole

Of all of the places I've lived and visited this place has to be the most beautiful. Jackson has managed to keep a lot of its charm in a world of mega-ski resorts. If you've been lucky enough to vist here you'll know what I mean. Many people ask me if Jackson is expensive and I guess the quick reply is it depends on what you call expensive. When compared to places like Vail, Aspen or Beaver Creek in Colorado, Jackson looks like a deal. People then ask me if I think the prices will eventually match those of other resort … (2 comments)
