Rehoboth Beach's Annual Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting and Sing-a-Long continues a long tradition at the Bandstand this Friday, November 25, from 6-7pm.  Singer/Songwriter Doug James and Mrs. Claus will lead those assembled in the festive singing of holiday songs.  Please bring your copy of the holiday songbook, available in Friday's Cape Gazette.  Then, at 7:00pm, the Countdown begins for the ceremonial Lighting of the Tree.  Santa will be in his cottage on the Boardwalk, ready to listen to the holiday wishes of girls and boys.  Hot chocolate will be served by the Special Olympics polar bear and the Plunge committee, … (0 comments)

The 2011 Summer Season is a fond memory, but the Fun has just Begun at the Beach!  Here is an outline of the festivities now through September 19:
Wednesday, September 14 - 5th Annual Go Red Luncheon and Fashion Show, clubhouse at Baywood Greens, Long Neck. Doors will open at 11:15. Presenting sponsor for the event is Beebe Medical Center with proceeds going to the American Heart Association. A silent auction and Chinese auction will be part of the event. I can think of no better place to Celebrate the 4th of July than at the Beach!  And Lewes and Rehoboth Beaches have an exciting schedule of fun activities lined up for your enjoyment. Here is a partial list of what's in store:
Friday, July 1 - The 287th Army Band of the National Guard will perform at 8pm at the Rehoboth Bandstand. These military bands are the best!

It's that time of year again...
Time for the 20th Annual Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival!  Put your diet on hold for the day Saturday, March 6, and come down to the Convention Center to test and taste a myriad of chocolate delights, crafted by local restauranteurs and home chefs alike.  The Festival is open from 11:30-3:30 or until the chocolate runs out, but the patrons line up early.  The event is co-sponsored by Rehoboth Beach Mainstreet and Friends of the Rehoboth Library.  A $2 admission fee is charged, and then guests can taste to their hearts' content.

Lewes, Delaware, is jump-starting the Holiday Season with Christmas Weekend in Historic Lewes 2009.  The festivities begin with the 23rd Annual Lewes Hospitality Night on Thursday, December 3rd, 6-9pm, in the Historic Commercial District surrounding Second Street.  Shops will be open late and live musical entertainment will fill the streets with the sounds of the season.  Beebe Medical Center will also hold its Holiday of Lights on Thursday at 5pm.

There is plenty happening in Rehoboth and Dewey Beaches this weekend!  Besides the beach fun, here are some other ideas:
The 28th Annual Skimboarding Championships, part of the Zap East Coast Pro/Am Tour, takes place this Saturday and Sunday in Dewey Beach!  Come to the beach at Swedes St. to see some of the best competitors in the world show their stuff for prizes, glory, and the sheer joy of mastering the wave.  Need more details?  Log onto www.skimusa.org.
