lewes: A REALTOR(r)'s DAY OFF - 09/17/10 09:49 AM
One of this REALTOR(r)'s favorite things to do on her day off is to attend a quilt show.  Yesterday, I was able to do just that, with a busload of like-minded women from the Ocean Waves Quilt Guild, of which I am a member.  The works of quilted art on display were phenomenal in their craftsmanship, artistry and variety!  I took a number of photos to share with those of you who have maybe never attended such a show and don't know what you're missing...and for those who like to spend their days off the same way I do.  Enjoy!  And … (3 comments)

lewes: Inauguration Envy - 01/23/09 01:28 PM
At various times during my day, I still catch myself in a state of euphoria after Tuesday's inauguration--In part because I am full of hope and optimism for the new administration and the future of our nation, and in part because I am thrilled that my son was able to be there.  Ms. Sue Comorat arranges a field trip for her Contemporary Issues class to attend the presidential inauguration every 4 years.  In 2005, our older boy, Scott, witnessed George W. Bush taking the oath of office.  This time it was John's turn.  My eye witness said it was incredible.  I would … (0 comments)

lewes: Slower-Paced but Not Standing Still - 01/10/09 02:24 PM
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, used to be a summer resort only.  The shops opened and the people came to town Memorial Day weekend.  Everything closed up and the people left on Labor Day.  The months in between were as devoid of activity as was the stretch of empty highway between Lewes and Rehoboth, before the outlet malls, restaurants and chain motels filled in where farmer's fields used to be.
Since that day (and this was true as recently as 20 years ago), the merchants and managers of Lewes and Rehoboth have worked hard to make their communities more of a year-round resort, … (2 comments)

lewes: Cape Henlopen Football - 10/18/08 01:57 PM
Heart-felt CONGRATULATIONS to the Cape Henlopen Vikings football team on winning Friday night's game against the PolyTech Panthers 21-0!  Not only did the team win, but it was Homecoming to boot!  Everybody did a super job in the newly refurbished Legends Stadium--the team, the cheerleaders, the band--and I hope everyone is having a blast (I know--that phrase dates me), celebrating their victory and friendship at tonight's Homecoming Dance.  (Cape Henlopen High School services the towns of Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Milton, Delaware, and all areas between.)

lewes: A Fabulous Retreat for Your Doggie - 08/28/08 02:51 AM
Meet my doggie, Merlin.  Merlin will be two years old in November.  My husband and I thought long and hard before deciding to adopt a dog again after about a 12 year hiatus.  Dogs had been an integral part of our family before, but it had been a while.  One thing that made us hesitate was not wanting to be tied down with a dog just when our children were leaving the nest.  Enter Doggies At the Beach!  Doggies At the Beach (www.doggiesatthebeach.com), is a 2400 square foot full service dog care service that does not use kennels.  Doggies are allowed … (1 comments)
