On March 29, 2015 David Jirasek, ALC, CCIM completed the course "Homeowners Flood Insurance: Gulf of Mexico Region Specific". This course highlighted some specific challenges for flood properties in the coastal states along the Gulf of Mexico and Florida. Every property in this country is in a flood zone, and most homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage. On March 21, 2014, President Obama signed the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act into law, affecting more than 5.5 million homeowners across the United States.
