Greetings and Happy New Years from what today one could call the deep freeze. You see it is currently 24 degrees and windy but it is winter and considering this will last for only another day...well one need not complain too much since this is only the 4th or 5th cold event we've had in the past 12 months. Speaking of which let me get to the 4th quarter report. Yep the ole end of year. It occurred to me this morning in reading a blog by Eric Bouler entitled Localism Photos, should photos be by local area Members only? That in doing an overview of "The Golden Isles" entitled So What are the Golden Isles I'd neglected to include many of the smaller areas incorporated and not that add to the charm and beauty of the area. The entire country has recently been fascinated about the story of a 6 year old child who simply disappeared from a lower income neighborhood in Glynn County Georgia. Yesterday the body of the child was found due to the diligent work of the Glynn County Police Department, The Department of Natural Resources, Glynn County Fire Services and other community organizations and individuals who came together for the sole purpose of finding this child. For those who are unfamiliar with what exactly composes the "Golden Isles" it is composed of Georgia barrier islands from about Patterson Island down through Cumberland Island just off the coast of Camden County Georgia. In between you have such well known islands as Sapelo, Hird, Black, Saint Simons, Sea and Jekyll Islands composing the most easily recognized. For those of you who are not in the SEC (South Eastern Conference) the Georgia – Florida game probably holds little significance. However, being here on St. Simons Island, 70 miles from the annual “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” is a true adventure.
