Kachemak Shorebird Festival! 23 years go this event was started with a few people and the Kachemak Board of Realtors. It is now one of the biggest events in our town and marks the beginning of the season! The Spit is open for business! Shorebirders are out in Force!
The shorebird migration is well underway ...as usual, plovers are leading the way. SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER. Also GREATER & LESSER YELLOWLEGS, WHIMBRELS, SURFBIRDS, ROCK, WESTERN, LEAST, & SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, DUNLIN, DOWITCHERS, & WILSON’S SNIPE. - George Matz
