It is with fear and trepidation this blog piece is written, fearing someone will think me a bleeding heart liberal. Never fear, it ain't true. However empathy is one of my strong suits and it is empathy driving me to post this missive. We all know the temperature of the real estate waters. There are a large number of folks who have or are going through foreclosure. This is the pits to say the least, even if it is self-imposed pain. One thing still remembered from statistics class is the instructor warning us "Numbers lie and liars use numbers!" While this may be true in some instances, not all who use numbers try to mislead. However, some do not tell the entire story. And, a reader of statistics needs to know what they are reading. Another golden rule is always know the source of the statistics. Case in point: the San Antonio housing numbers for April 2010 show a 20% increase in homes sold compared to a year ago. Sounds great, right? Happy New Year to all!! My wish is for all your dreams to come true in 2010. Real estate was turned on it's head in 2009. While there was much flux in the real estate market we can look to the future for more normal market conditions. My prediction for 2010 is the real estate market will level and strengthen towards the end of the year with 2011 improving also. The Fair Market Value (FMV) has adjusted to the local market conditions, so sellers must adjust too. Here in Texas, 2009 saw the prices fall some with … (7 comments)
