Many of us work with folks who want a rental. We advise them on the rental process or we are supposed to anyway. When a tenant wants to add up all their income to qualify at the 3 x the amount of monthly rent, beware!
Adding into the equation the amount of educational monies from the Federal government from the GI Bill entitlements does not cut it. Those funds are earmarked and the renter has no control over them. They cannot use them to buy beans and grits for their family.

This might make some unhappy with me, however it is good advice in view of the world. Renters should stop renting and buy a home. With all the turmoil in the real estate market, some folks have been hurt. Really hurt. It is very sad. It has happened before and will happen again in the future. However, as the saying goes, behind every cloud is a silver lining. For renters, the silver lining means there are homes on the market at reduced prices which you may well want to consider buying.
