The bronze horse and rider is a heroic statue created by Hermon A. In 1890 the Krug family, a family of St. Joseph donated land to the City of St. Joseph for park development. Originally only a portion of the land that is occupied today was given, but over time a total of 162 acres was acquired. The beginning plans were drawn up before the depression so many things were left undone. But still today the Krug Family legend lives on as the property serves as the largest park in St. Joseph with many attractions of its own.
Krug Park is located on the North Side of the St. Joseph Parkway (1 comments)
The kids rode bikes, scooters, big wheels and several were pulled in wagons or walked, in celebration of the 4th of July. Many were dressed for the occasion while others carried flags.
One thing is for certain everyone in attendance had a fun morning!
The mission is to promote cycling as a recreational fitness activity while at the same time introducing kids to organized cycling events. Kids are welcome to participate in single rides or all three rides. For the 2009 series, the St Joseph Local Organizing Committee of the Tour of Missouri is organizing the event as a prelude to the Tour of Missouri Stage Six Finish taking place on September 12,2009 in St Joseph, which is also the date of the final ride (2 comments)

St. Joseph's newest attraction booms with visitors, and I can see why! WOW was I amazed when I drove up on the newly opened facility. The building is so breathtaking even pulling into the parking lot. The red, high standing structure has a modern, unique look. Sitting along the Missouri River I assume the reason the building is built on what looks like stilts is to make it "flood proof". Surrounding the building are beautiful trees, wildlife flowers, a butterfly garden, bridges, an outdoor classroom, a hike & bike trail, picnic tables and much more. I couldn't wait (2 comments)

Traveling 1,966 miles is quite a journey traveling by plane or car; can you imagine traveling that on horse back? Well, between the years1860-1861 this route between St. Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California was traveled daily. Although it was broken down into relay rides of 80-100 miles this is a journey people are still interested in today. And the history of the Pony Express still remains alive.
Almost 150 years ago the Pony Express legend began. This was the first type of mail service. The destinations were located in St. Joseph and Sacramento with stopping points along the way. A (6 comments)

Historical Missouri Theater, a $1,000,000 1200 seat "Movie Palace" opened in 1927, residents had watched the construction for over a year of the extravagant "open air playhouse" while listing to bizarre stories of the exotic sculpture inside the building done by 20 year old Wayland Gregory. Publix Theatre Corporation, a division of Paramount, owned the gala theatre.
The road of ownership was long and rocky for the first 50 years, the building still structurally sound, had fallen into a sad state of neglect. In 1976 a non-profit Town Hall Center, Inc, was organized by a group interested (10 comments)
Andy DeShon is a rising star of innovation by not taking "no" for an answer, while others complained of fuel prices and global warming, Andy did something about it. Andy became interested in electric motors when his uncle's dealership sold an electric lawnmower manufactured by General Electric. In the 1980's he began working with battery-powered forklifts in his warehouse job. In 1998, he started doing serious research and development work on his electric motors and electronics.
