After some reconstructive surgery to the handle and slide of the umbrella (Jay you would be so proud. Not a drywall screw was used in the reconstruction lol Now it's a little tilted and some of the vines have fallen off the supports ( as seen on the right side ) but in all it survived to bloom another day.
The great thing about my yard is the sun comes and goes later than most (9 comments)
Of all the thing I expected to come down in the tropical storm , my umbrella was not one of them lol Now I have wanted to replace cable with dish for the longest time and I was hoping the storm would assist me in that quest. My neighbors tree's stand between me and open skies and unlimited airwaves and he lost a total of zero, zip, none, O tree's ....................no luck ( for me that is )
For those who have watched the transformation I hope next spring you take the time to create your own yard sculpture. And don't worry about those pesky neighbors wondering why you have Christmas reindeer on your front lawn in May lol
For those who have been following my umbrella it's starting to take shape and color.
At night the flowers tend to close into a white spiral with a hint of color.
But in the morning they start to burst with colors that seem to aim for the sky.
Slowly my umbrella will keep me out of the RAIN. lol
probably not, but when it's full I'm hoping for one (6 comments)

My Umbrella in the Rain update, we all have other uses 7/6/11 Last week we saw the start of the vines This week with some help from the rain gods and the sun gods the vines and flowers have really taken off.
As you can see they are starting to go from one tip to the next. And if all you photographers have your way I'll be on my back when this thing fills for the true shot lol
Every now and again I will post updates on my umbrella. I am hoping it fills in and flowers nicely.
These are Morning Glory's. Their vines love to climb, latch on and just keep going.
We also came across a version of the Morning Glory that actually blooms at 4 in the afternoon. With these only time will tell. But I know when it does fill in I'll be laying under my umbrella lol
