Lake Travis Independent School District has just announced that they received the highest honor a school district can receive in the state of Texas, Exemplary!! Over the years, many of the schools within the district have been rated Exemplary, but the entire district as a whole has never received this honor until now. Alyssa completed her first week at her new school, Primrose School of Bee Cave. I'm not very excited that her other school closed and that I had to scramble to find a new one in under a week. I'm not thrilled with the lack of choices in the Bee Cave TX area for child care. In the immediate area, there are two daycares plus three Montessori schools. The Hill Country Galleria - Bee Cave Austin TX - had their trick or treating event last night. The City of Bee Cave TX finally opened their long-awaited Bee Cave Central Park. Bee Cave's park was actually completed several months ago, but because of the drought in the area, the City of Bee Cave decided to postpone the opening. They wanted to allot enough time for the grass to grow in and the trees to take root so it wasn't very muddy.

Falconhead PGA Golf Course - Bee Cave TX - is a very nice golf course. My husband plays it all the time. Every single day, I have to drive past the driving range and some of the course, and the greens always look to be actually green and not brown.

This picture was taken from about 8 feet away because my husband reminded me that Tarantulas can jump up to 10 feet, so I wasn't comfortable getting any closer. My neighbors even came out to see what the commotion was as they're from Wisconsin and had never seen on before. Granted, I've lived in Texas over 25 years and I've never seen one in person before!! Lake Travis -Austin TX - View from the Iguana Grill. On Thursday, I had a Mother's Night Out with some local moms in the Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Spicewood, TX areas. This lovely, Lucky, creature was found inside my home a couple of days ago. We let it outside. It is rumored that if you see geckos in or around your home, it means good luck. I sure could use some good luck on a lot of issues these days, so I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath!! The picture was taken with my camera phone so the image is not the greatest. I tried to make it sharper, but whenever I increased the size, he was very blurry...

Today is day 48 of OVER 100 degree weather! The heat is rather ridiculous if you ask me... and anyone else around here! Here are some numbers to know: 69 days over 100 in 192566 days over 100 in 192350 days over 100 in 2008 After the weekend, we could very easily move into the third spot. August is traditionally the hottest month of the year so we have plenty of time to hit another 19 days over 100 to climb to the top of the list. Do I want to break the record? Yes, but NO. There are lots of deer running through my neighborhood of Falconhead West in Bee Cave, TX, but it was even more amazing to find this tree that looks so much like a deer, right down the street from my house.

Every chance I get, I've been posting pictures of the creatures and critters I see in and around my house. Some look friendly, while other's look not-so-friendly. Here is our latest friend that we encountered.

How did I start my Monday morning? With a screw... in my tire! My husband thought it was just on the surface, so he started to pull it out, however, he heard the hissing sound and immediately pushed it back in. That left me calling to find some place nearby who patches holes in tires. My husband's initial reaction was for me to go to Walmart, they do everything. I called, it was $9.50. Alyssa got her Daddy a Hummingbird feeder for Father's Day, however we just hung it a few days ago. Look at the visitor we had! The Hummingbird is actually blurry because of the speed of the flapping of the wings, but I tried to get a picture as in-focus as possible. How do they find the feeders? The internet says they cannot smell it, and to not worry about coloring the water because they can't see it. How did these hummingbirds know the feeder was there? They appeared within an hour of putting it out in the tree.
My husband said it was a dragonfly, but we've seen many dragonflies while on the boat, and this is no dragonfly. It nicely let me take a few pictures and then as soon as I put the camera down, it flew away. What am I? **Are You Packed Yet?**

Barton Springs Pool, inside Zilker Park, is going to be FREE tomorrow, July 11, 2009. I would say they're doing it just because it's my birthday and I'm special, but they're doing it because it has been HOT HOT in Austin the past few weeks, and everyone needs to cool off.
Why is Barton Springs a good place to cool off? Because the current temperature is 68 degrees! Barton Springs is filled from a natural Spring so the water temperature typically remains much cooler than other lakes and rivers where the sun is heating them all summer long. Each week, I've been giving a summary of how my weekends are going. It's mainly my way of showing off the light of my life, Alyssa. People seem to enjoy the updates, so I continue to post them. This weekend was a lot of fun. We went out on Lake Travis. Alyssa actually rode behind the boat in the tube. No, she was not alone... she rode with me. We want her to know at an early age that the water is not scary.
We also spent some time with friends swimming in their pool.
This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country. Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different. Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between. Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!! Come back often!
