nar: NAR Reports 16% of Contracts Were Canceled in June - Why? - 09/05/11 12:26 PM
Home Buyers are canceling more and more contracts, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. On average, 8-10% of contracts get canceled prior to closing. That equates to about 1 in 10.  NAR surveyed its members for the following stats. May 2011 saw only a 4% cancellation, whereas June 2011 saw 16%.  That's a little disturbing.  Why are so many people canceling their contracts? Lawrence Yun, NAR's chief economist stated that "the sudden swing is surprising and worrisome, but that there are no hard statistics available on the causes." I don't think you need stats to say one of two things. … (49 comments)

nar: The Word is Out- ActiveRain shows up on Supra's Survey - 04/14/08 06:41 AM
Apparantly, the word is out on how addictive ActiveRain is.  My local association (MetroTex Association of Realtors) sent their weekly email yesterday, and within the email was a link to take a survey from GE's Supra to help them design a new lockbox.
One of the questions was:
9. What software applications are of interest to you on a smartphone?
I did not mark that answer as I don't use my Treo for blogging and can't see myself using it for blogging in the future because the keys are too small and my mind goes faster than my fingers can press those tiny buttons, … (13 comments)

nar: NAR's Changes to Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice - 01/10/08 04:39 AM
I am on the Texas (TAR) Professional Standards Committee and I was just emailed the changes that were adopted for 2008 from NAR, and I kinda chuckled.  I'm not sure if others have read the changes, but this really caught my eye.
Article 12 used to say, "REALTORS® shall be careful at all times to present a true picture in their advertising and representations to the public..."
The revised Article says, "REALTORS® shall be honest and truthful in their real estate communications and shall present a true picture in their advetising, marketing, and other representations..."
What caught your eye?  What caught my eye is what should … (38 comments)

nar: NAR is Heading South of the Border - 12/04/06 03:34 AM

NAR has headed south of the border into Mexico, and as of January 2007, all Mexicans that are members of AMPI (La Asociacion Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios) will be considered REALTORS®.
This is the first joint relationship that NAR as formally signed with a foreign real estate organization.  The have been ongoing liaisons over the years, but this is a much larger step in bringing REALTORS® together.
NAR announced at the convention in New Orleans that they will launch a 4-hour course called "Doing Business In Mexico" with an online version available later in 2007.
Is this a start of NAR actually becoming a … (3 comments)

This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
