ranch real estate: Colorado City and Rye Area Land Sales Report - 04/14/10 04:48 PM
Quick Stats for land sales in the Colorado City and Rye areas since January 2009.  Seven parcels sold and prices varied due to size.  It may be considered a buyer's market, but that would depend on seller desperation or motivation, don't you think?
This information is taken from the Pueblo Association of Realtors and is deemed reliable but not guaranteed.

ranch real estate: REAL ESTATE REALITY - 02/13/09 06:45 PM

A recent article in a rural area of Colorado tells a story.  This area aspired to become the next "Jackson Hole", times were "booming", in prior years, however, 2008 painted a different picture.
The local paper reported that the number of real estate transactions had declined in 2008 as compared to the prior year.  Not news exactly, as many areas have the same report.  However the Tribune went on to report overall sales had dropped 21 percent from last year.  And compared to the real estate boom of 2005, sales were off 40 percent overall.
In spite of those negatives … (2 comments)

Real Estate:
So, you think this new listing possibility is vacant........NOT.  In 08 we went on a pre-listing for a bank and found a tenant.  We didn't get to meet the rest of the family, but the sounds coming from the upstairs could mean there was some remodeling or Holiday decorating in process.
So, did you see the 2008 National Cutting Horse Association Futurity Finals, on RFD television,  last Sunday?  All those 3 year old babies competing at their first show.  Top selling horse sold with a 6-Figure $$ price.  The winning competitor at the finals took home … (0 comments)

ranch real estate: HORSES and COLORADO CITY COLORADO - 08/27/07 05:40 PM
Horses in the Colorado City, Colorado area are a hearty herd.  Kept, for the most part, comfortable in their natural habitat, these two are in excellent condition.
Ranchers have premium mountain native grass hay locally grown, but have to travel to Pueblo, Colorado to stock up on the oats for the winter.  In Pueblo the Sweeney Feed Mill is still operational and should be in the historical record, why it's not who knows.  But it is certainly a step back in time to visit the Sweeney Feed Mill (719-544-1041), located on 4th Street.
And, of course, a frequently seen 4-hoofed critter is the Colorado City … (3 comments)

ranch real estate: Horse Property Colorado and BELLE STAR - 08/26/07 05:25 PM

Belle Star, long lineage of working cow dog, does really well traveling the road, previewing, showing property and marking boundaries of large acreage parcels.  Office mascot at Colorado Western Real Estate  http://coloradowesternland.com ; all who come by or to the office know her as part of the team.  Belle likes getting out on the property with brokers, buyers and sellers and all like having her around mainly due to her ability to let you know if there is any danger in the area.  Lots of thanks to her for locating and warning us of the presence of one of our reptile neighbors of range land, … (2 comments)

ranch real estate: Horses and Hatchet Ranch - 08/22/07 05:28 PM
Horses and Hatchet Ranch
The Hatchet Ranch was so large, in the day, that you could saddle and ride, for miles, without crossing a neighboring fence. Now that was from the ranch headquarters to Rocky Ford Colorado, about 40+/- miles.  What a ranch!  In today's modern world, I have actually hired for "day work".  This means, simply, hiring out for the day; me and Qxiote Too Tari (in the photo), Doctor Jay Perico (Rico) and in the 80's and early 90's on Echols Docs Oak, to find, count and move cattle.  The ranch was bought and developed by Red Creek Ranch Development, but that did not stop the day work.  … (3 comments)

ranch real estate: Colorado Green Summer - 06/17/07 12:13 PM

Summer of 2007 and "Belly Deep" in grass.  Thanks to a great rainy spring the grass is back and this looks more like it.  Southern Colorado has had a long dry spell and this is a welcome site.
This is nearby to one of my recent large ranch listings, I could not resist sharing this with all of you.
