5123461799: Tuesday's Treasures ~ This year it's all smiles with Santa - 12/17/18 09:02 AM
This year is the first year both Beautiful Becket and  Handsome Hudson have great smiles for Santa. Even last year when we were attending the production of Rudolph they were having nothing to do with that man in the red suit and white beard! It's amazing what a year can bring! Ho - Ho...it's a jolly Santa who brings out the smiles!

5123461799: Thankful Thursdays ~ Debb and Bernie - 12/17/18 08:32 AM
I received a pop-up card that is so darn cute from Debb and Bernie. It absolutely made my day!  I saw these advertised after I received this card and will definitely keep them in mind  for next year. My colleagues all commented on how creative they are..... they certainly made me think of how clever Debb and Bernie are and raised their level to top of mind with me!
If I know of anyone moving to Camas,WA I will definitely be sending a referral. Is it just the card? No it was the icing on the cake after reading all their wonderful posts, offering their knowledge to all … (18 comments)

5123461799: Chez Nous ~ "Foodie" Friday 1/4/19 - 12/12/18 02:22 PM
Ahhhh....The hustle & bustle of the holidays is behind us.  Many have made New Years resolutions and one might be enjoying date night with your significant other or maybe getting together with certain friends you haven't had time in the past. How about starting out the new year with a romantic dinner at this iconic French bistro in downtown Austin?  The history on how this place opened is intriguing!

Chez Nous opened since 1982 when three friends came from Paris to Austin and wanted to open a simple and independent French restaurant.  It's been said that eating at Chez Nous is … (19 comments)

5123461799: Dishing with Dorie ~ did you know? 12/3/18 - 11/20/18 12:52 PM
A nice week-end with good weather! Saturday Beckett and Hudson came over with their dad while their mom was in CA running a marathon. We baked cookies, decorated some trees outside, wrote letters to Santa and watched the Horns lose in the Championship game in Dallas :). Saturday night the Clemson game made up for the Horns loss! Sunday I held an open house and showed property..multiple offers and we were too late to enter the fray!!
If your looking for places to donate this season here is a list you should consider in NW Austin.

5123461799: Rosewood ~ "Foodie" Friday 11/30/18 - 11/20/18 12:29 PM
It's the end of November and tomorrow is the first of December so holiday activities and shopping are in full swing! My recommendation this week is for a restaurant rich in historic details  close to downtown, sitting on a hill on Rosewood Avenue in East Austin; it's definitely worth a trip for an outstanding meal and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the holiday!

5123461799: How much do feelings weigh? - 11/20/18 09:05 AM
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I received this story from Mark Hairston with The Hairston Group. Read it and think about it..I sure did!
“A professor of philosophy walked into her lecture hall with a glass of water in hand. The hall was filled with antsy students who were eager to finish up class before heading home for Thanksgiving break. As she wound her way through the aisles, the professor raised the glass of water where everyone could see it; most of the students anticipated the predictable "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How … (40 comments)

5123461799: Thank Goodness for Mom's apple pie recipe - 11/09/18 08:06 AM

My mom was a Home Economics teacher at Linton High School in upstate N.Y. (Brenda Mayette you know where that is - of course it's now merged with Mount Pleasant High School and is now Schenectady High School) and an unbelievable cook and baker! She baked pies, cakes, cookies and breads and thank goodness I have most of her recipes to share with family.
My family loves the apple recipe from Mom. I now only bake it Thanksgiving and Christmas, as it is a labor of love!
Just this past week my granddaughter Maggie (who is a senior in high school) made this apple pie pictured. Didn't she … (18 comments)

5123461799: Dishing with Dorie ~ Did you know? 11/26/18 - 11/07/18 01:19 PM
Cold and then beautiful weather alternated this week-end! After a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends this year (our kids were all elsewhere) our Christmas tree is up and most holiday decorations. How about that Longhorn win on Friday and the Aggie win on Saturday - what a thriller - 7 overtimes!! I enjoyed hosting a well attended open house on Sunday and have a funeral to attend this morning and doctors visits for Geno this afternoon.
Have you heard about the affordable mid rise (6 story) Tyndall Condominum Project opened just East of downtown Austin?

5123461799: Dishing with Dorie ~ did you know? 11/19/18 - 11/02/18 12:52 PM
Saturday was sunny with blue skies and perfect football weather for an awesome game day experience to watch UT beat Iowa State University! Incredible pre-game day vibe, cellphone flashlights display by everyone during Journey songs and post game fireworks!
Sunday turned blustery and cold and was a good day to work with Geno on his leg exercises and get some of his lost mobility back. Time to kick back with a fire and enjoy life.
Did you know the unemployment rate in Texas for October 2018 was released and its a historic low of 3.7%! Employers are hiring and many employees are looking for housing!

5123461799: Thankful for Sunsets ~ The closing of another day - 11/02/18 09:46 AM
I've always enjoyed sunsets almost as much as sun rises. There is something about the sun setting and pulling down the shade on another day. Sigh....sometimes its the perfect ending for a perfect day. Sometimes its a relief to end a day that's been less than stellar. Either way there is a calming aspect as the fiery ball falls below the horizon and the darkness sets in.
I've always been thankful my dad made a point to show us how wonderful it was to experience the brilliant colors of a sunset and how each day it was different. No two exactly alike.
When we were … (15 comments)

5123461799: Thankful for the Heart Hospital of Austin - 11/02/18 09:34 AM
Thank you Debbie Reynolds  for hosting our annual Thanksgiving Challenge - Post What you are grateful for November challenge. Of course we should recognize and acknowledge things in our life that are blessings all year long but November is an appropriate time for reflection.
I am fortunate to have so many things to be grateful for but considering the challenges we've encountered in October the one that is fresh in my mind is the Heart Hospital of Austin.
My Geno fell on October 13th outside one of our favorite restaurants at the Domain and ended up with a visit to the ER several days later to find he broke … (19 comments)

Happy Veterans Day everyone! It's a cold wet day in Austin and I'm bringing my Veteran to the vein clinic for another Doppler today to see if we can't get a handle on Geno's plight. Yesterday I held an open house while friends came over to visit Geno. On Saturday I made Hudson's last soccer game and watched him score 2 goals! In the afternoon Hudson and his dad came out to visit Paw Paw and build a wooden car and played dominoes....a special treat to spend quality time with Geno.

5123461799: Not so Wordless Wednesday ~ All it takes is an Elsa rod and reel! - 10/29/18 02:11 PM
Beautiful Beckett and Handsome Hudson went with their parents to spend the week-end on a friend's ranch. One of the fun things they did was fish in one of their ponds. Beckett out fished all the boys with her Elsa rod and reel and caught a 2 pound bass! Hudson was sure something would bite but alas it wasn't meant to be!

5123461799: Canyon Creek Tennis Court Improvement ~Thank you volunteers! - 10/29/18 08:57 AM
We finally enjoyed a sunny day in Austin and many volunteers showed up at the Canyon Creek Park to help put in their sweat, time and hard work to clean the tennis courts and tie the wind screens together!
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when families in the Canyon Creek community come together. While giving their time and energy to the project they discovered some erosion problems and discussed future group efforts to improve the courts.
The following volunteers deserve a big round of applause and a huge Thank You for taking the time to improve the tennis courts:
