Saturday, October 24, 2009 turned out to be a gorgeous fall day, crisp, clear and sunny for all our witches and goblins! The rain stopped and the kids got on their costumes and flew over to Trail Head Park with their parents for the festivities!
Thanks again to Francine Galko and all her workers for pulling off another well attended tradition for Canyon Creek!

I have served on the On-Site Advisory Board since Canyon Creek Elementary opened 11 years ago in August 1998 as a Business and Community Member. Our board evolves every year and we are getting dads like Joe Pelayo serving as a Parent Representative to add another dimension to our board. We had a meeting yesterday and I was reminded they opened with 372 students! Now there are 511 enrolled at this time in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Tonight is the Fall Festival at Tutortime in Canyon Creek and it is bound to be a blast! Festivities begin at 7pm. Tickets are $10 for 20 tickets or $15 for 30 tickets. Bring a friend and get 20 extra tickets!
All Proceeds Go to The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Our building, located in The Arboretum Plaza (right behind The Cheesecake Factory) had a fire drill Friday at 2:30pm. They did notify us ahead of time it was going to happen and even treated everyone to Austin's world famous Amy's Ice Cream in the park!
We are so lucky to have landlords who value our time and show appreciation for any inconveniences!

Francine Galko, a Canyon Creek resident, is in charge of the Canyon Creek Halloween Party again this year. What a great job she does! We all owe her a vote of thanks for her planning efforts to make this annual tradition for the kids a success.
The date is set for Saturday, October 24th, 2009 from 10am until 12:00 noon. There will be lots of fun activities, including crafts, tattoos, food, a petting zoo and a pumpkin patch!

In comparing the statistics from 3rd quarter 2008 to 2009 you can see there is a 68.75% increase in the number of home sold! However, the average sold price decreased by 8.67%. The combination of low interest rates, declining prices and the added $8,000 tax credit incentive has brought a surge in home sales in the third quarter. Many buyers found it's a great time to make a value price purchase. In order to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit, homes must close by December 1, 2009. Congratulations to Harvey and Jennie Rosenblum, Canyon Creek's first Green Garden award winners! Their green garden is located at 9528 Indigo Brush in the prestigious NW Austin community of Canyon Creek.Eight years ago the Rosenblums began the transition from a lawn to a rock/native plant garden.
