Today we honor our nations Presidents and their many contributions to our great country. Thank you and Happy President's Day!
I took time today to have Geno's car inspected so I could apply for his state registration. In Texas you must have your car inspected, show proof of insurance and pay a nominal fee to register your vehicle with the state. Even though he hasn't driven since October I drive his larger Lexus SUV when taking him for doctors visits etc.

Wow.. the 2018 US News & World Report just named Austin the second year in the row as The Best City to Live In! They say people are drawn to the Texas capital’s music, outdoor spaces and cultural institutions. Austin is one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country. Of course the “Hot” job market plays an important role in attracting new residents!

Believe it or not there are 1.5 million bats (the world’s largest urban bat colony) that fly out every summer night from under the Congress Avenue Bridge (officially the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge). They are a sight to behold! Thousands of residents and visitors flock to view the bats spiraling into the summer skies!
The Congress Avenue Bridge was reconstructed in 1980. The engineers had no clue the new crevices underneath the bridge would make the perfect bat roost even though bats had lived there for years. Many residents reacted in panic and ignorance by petitioning to have the bat … (21 comments)

The  Austin American-Stateman Capitol 10,000 is the largest race in Texas and is known as one of the top 10 in the nation.  The 10K is in its 38th year and this year's race date is Sunday, April 12th, 2015 in downtown Austin.  There is a 2 day Health & Fitness expo that starts the event, an iconic start right on Congress Ave heading straight for the Capitol, and it finishes with a party on Auditorium Shores Main Lawn.

The Capitol 10,000 is the largest 10K race in Texas and one of the top 10 in the nation! Its annual race for 2014 is this Saturday April 6th, in downtown Austin. Registration began in October 2013 online at www.cap10k.com and it’s not too late if you want to join in the fun!
 
Last year there were 18,382 registered participants! It’s amazing because the first race held in 1978 had 3,400 participants.
