austin tx: My Guide for Surviving the ATZ Freeze in Austin - 01/15/24 08:28 PM
Gear up in layers because, let's face it, Austin's version of a polar vortex might not be as intense, but it can still give you the shivers. Picture yourself as an onion – layers upon layers, my friend.
And for the love of warm pipes, ensure your exterior faucets are snugly covered. No one wants a plumbing surprise during a freeze. Trust me.
If your sink faces the cold wrath of an outside wall, open those cabinets and let the faucet drip. It's like your sink's way of saying, "Hey, I'm still alive in here!"
And amid all this cold chaos, never forget that … (13 comments)

austin tx: Lunch at Clark's Oyster Bar in Austin - 07/16/23 10:38 AM
On Friday, we had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful lunch at Clark’s Oyster Bar located on 6th Street in Austin. This happens to be my son’s preferred seafood spot, and whenever he has a choice for his birthday lunch, he always chooses Clark’s. We (Melissa, John and I) were treated to this awesome dining experience by our Title Representative, who consistently goes above and beyond to show appreciation for our business.
John and I savored some outstanding oysters (should have snapped a picture before devouring them)! Personally, I always opt for the mouthwatering lobster roll, served with delectable, sweet pickles and … (30 comments)

austin tx: Video Contest For Students in Austin ~ Turn Around Don’t Drown! - 01/21/23 03:38 PM
Austin’s City Watershed Protection Department is hosting a student video contest to promote safe driving and saving lives. It’s the first Flood Safety Awareness Video Contest for all Austin-area students in grades 6-12.

Driving through flooded roads in Austin is the leading cause of deaths during a flash flood. It not only put’s the drivers’ lives at risk, but also the lives of passengers and emergency responders. Believe it or not Austin is in the heart of Flash Flood Alley.
The plan is for the students to create their own short (30 second) public service announcement, educating drivers to “Turn Around Don’t … (19 comments)

austin tx: Funny Friday's ~ Only in Austin ~ 9/30/2022 - 09/24/22 12:43 PM
El Arroyo is an iconic local spot in Austin. They make the best hand-squeezed margaritas and serve Black Angus beef tacos (along with many other Tex- Mex offerings) and have since 1975!
A quirky marquee is out front on the corner of West 5th and Campbell. Every day they change their bill board with a new pun (everything imaginable).
They encourage you to submit your pun on their website and of course have permission to post them. It’s one of those “Keep Austin Weird” things that we all in Austin love!
They post them on Instagram because everyone loves them. Our own Myrl Jeffcoat follows … (25 comments)

austin tx: Is a Burrito a Sandwich? - 08/14/22 03:30 PM
I’m sure this is not a burning question for most of you but in Texas we take pride in our burritos! It all started when Mexican eatery Qdoba signed a lease in a strip mall to open a restaurant. A fellow tenant of the mall, Panera Bread, claimed they had a sandwich clause in their lease which gave them exclusive rights to sell sandwiches on the property.
The case went to court as Panera Bread claimed that a sandwich is meat, cheese and fillings between bread, so it was game on! The case was settled by a Massachusetts judge, Jeffrey Locke, in … (46 comments)

austin tx: Every Home Has a Story Including 11512 Tin Cup Dr #301 - 04/07/22 03:42 AM
Real estate often comes full circle. This townhome was the beginning of a new chapter for my son, John and I, as he headed into high school in 1990 (my daughter Melissa was headed to UT). I was starting a new career in real estate as a single mom and even though this was smaller than our home it kept John and I connected to our circle of friends, John at the same school and rent was cheap!

I rented four years as I got a sure footing in Real Estate. I met my Geno, … (19 comments)

This month’s AR Challenge is “What’s Your Story,” inspired by Richie Alan Naggar   and hosted by Carol Williams and Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, Phoenix Broker.
My real estate career began in 1991 when I found myself divorced and a single mom. I HAD to push the reset button and reinvent my life. I weighed my options and decided real estate was a good fit for me.
“I would fake it until I made it” became my motto! My college degree spared me from taking so many classes so it didn’t take long to get the required courses out of the way, take … (31 comments)

Handsome Hudson plays flag football for the Trojans and is so excited to be playing on a team with many of his best pals! They are like puppies jumping, running and chasing each other down the field!
Today started out cold at 33 degrees in Austin but our weather in Texas can turn on a dime! Wait 10 minutes and it can all change. It was 70 degrees this afternoon and a perfect day to watch these 8 year old boys play. Hudson made 2 touchdowns (his team won) and the whole team was thrilled to run like the wind, socialize … (17 comments)
