cell phones: Incivility Damaging Our Workplace Relationships - 05/24/10 11:57 AM
Christine Pearson with the New York Times published an interesting article concerning the revelations they unearthed through a study of data gathered on more than 9,000 managers and workers across the United States.  Christine defines incivility as behavior, seemingly inconsequential to the doer, that others perceive as inconsiderate.
This morning I witnessed 2 colleagues having breakfast and observed the younger colleague spending most of his time texting and emailing.  The older gentleman tried to initialize conversation several times while his colleague rudely made no eye contact and continued directing his attention to his electronic device.  Clearly the older gentleman was annoyed … (104 comments)

cell phones: Be Part Of The Cure, Not THE Problem - 03/16/10 09:37 AM

As realtors, I'm quite certain the majority of us can multitask even while driving and that there will be no consequences.  As realtors we carry precious cargo with us while showing homes.  These families and individuals look to us for our professionalism and dependability while in our care and put their faith and trust in us to be completely responsible.  Using  your cell phone (talking, texting, and surfing the internet) while driving does cause many accidents - some fatal.
Driving a motor vehicle requires your full attention and complete concentration. So when you need to make or receive a phone call, … (4 comments)

cell phones: Harnessing Consumer Mobile Usage - 01/26/10 07:50 AM

Tony Romeo, President of KWKLY Mobile Marketing offered an overview of mobile marketing at the Quantum Digital Summit in Austin January 9th and 20th, 2010.  He discussed how real estate brokers are employing mobile technology to gain a competitive edge.
He explained we must understand how consumers are using mobile phones to obtain the key to learning how to harness mobile usage.  Mobile phones are not about browsing.  Computers are for browsing and making decisions.  Cell phones are used to place the order or as he says used as hunters.

cell phones: Stop Paying for 411 Info Calls On Your Cell Phone - 01/13/10 08:24 AM
Just leave it to Google to come up with something like this! Here's a number worth putting in your cell phone, or your home phone speed dial: 1-800-goog-411.

This is an awesome service from Google...and it's free...great when you're on the road.
Don't waste your money on information calls and don't waste your time manually dialing the number...Here's an example of how it works.  I am driving along in my car and I need to call Precision Inspection to cancel an inspection because my buyer wants to terminate their contract and I don't know the number.  I hit the … (20 comments)

cell phones: Eavesdropping - 01/12/10 04:20 AM
Are you a cell phone user that will discuss ANYTHING out in the open where anyone can listen?  It's amazing to me the conversations I'm forced to become a part of standing in line at the grocery store, eating lunch at a restaurant, waiting my turn at the dry cleaners or making a purchase at department store.  Bringing the world in on any of your phone conversations is annoying at best.  Be courteous to those around you....you never know who is eavesdropping!

cell phones: PERSONAL PHONE CALL .. E-MAIL or TEXT ?? - 12/23/08 07:35 AM
Text messaging and email  are great in their place but sometimes messages get lost in translation or the wrong tone is perceived in their brevity of form of communication.  An old-fashion phone call can sometimes be the best communication option.
I find when negotiating an offer email is a quick and acceptable way to deliver the documents but it's important to talk directly to parties when giving pertinent information about the offer.  Often times I present a letter from the buyer or about the buyer when submitting an offer. Sellers like to know if they are relocating, moving up or … (11 comments)

cell phones: SAVE TIME AND MONEY ~ USE YOUR CAMERA PHONE - 12/22/08 05:04 AM
Your cell phone most likely comes with a digital camera.  Gene and I both use the 3-G I-Phone and love them!  Ask Gene sometime who left their new phone on a plane in the overhead coming back from vacation!
There are a variety of ways to take advantage of your camera features for work and pleasure:
Snap a picture of an identifiable landmark when you park in a large lot.
If you park on a city street snap a picture of the nearest intersection.
Snap a picture of the home you have a listing appointment with to insert in your market … (1 comments)
