No more is Austin a needle in the haystack!

For years companies and consumers have been discovering Austin; one by one...like finding a needle in a haystack. Once our City of Austin government and Austin Chamber of Commerce made a commitment to actively focus on growth and tout to the world the quality of life in Austin...it all changed!

Austin is now a leader in job growth in Texas and in the country. This didn’t happen by accident. Austin’s laid back way of life, warmer climate and petulance for music and eclectic lifestyle has attracted the attention from companies … (29 comments)

city of austin: Top University Town With Smarter Than Average Street Lights - 03/12/13 09:19 PM
The goal is to automate all streetlights in Austin by 2015 so the system is “Dark Sky” compliant. So far Austin Energy crews have mounted communication devices on almost half the 70,000 streetlights in Austin. The crews are methodically installing flat-glass fixtures that direct light down rather that up and out.
That is a huge job but they are making their way through all the streetlights. The devices signal that street lights are operating properly and red-flag those for repair that are out or that remain on all day.
Crews will be alerted to outages with the automated street lights without the need … (23 comments)

Protect your home from fires ~ your "stuff" isn't more important than your life.Spring of 2011 in Texas is not a pretty sight!  Little to no rain fell and we are lucky to see just a few wild flowers; which are usually so electifying in color with our Blue Bonnets and Indian Paint Brush!  Our lakes are receding and the temperatures are soaring before we even hit the summer months.  Now this could all change because as we all know just wait 10 minutes and the weather can change in Texas! It's crucial this year to prepare for the possibility of wildland … (40 comments)

city of austin: Help Stop Water Theft - 02/18/10 03:43 AM
Did you know water theft may result in a class C misdemeanor, which is punishable by fines of up to $2,000!  The Austin Water Utility and paying customers are victims of millions of gallons of water stolen annually from fire hydrants.
The City of Austin has invested millions of dollars to ensure customers with safe, clean and reliable drinking water.  When water is illegally taken from fire hydrants, illegal and careless connections compromise our water supply and can lower pressure required for fire protection.

Fire hydrants without a metered connection is most often where water is being stolen.  You need … (4 comments)

As a Canyon Creek resident we got in the mail today a partial refund of the taxes we paid in 2008 to the Northwest Austin Municipal Utility District No.1! We will receive a second refund from the City of Austin for any 2009 District taxes that we paid.
