debbie reynolds: Happy Thanksgiving~Thankful for 2017 resolves & counting my blessings - 11/20/17 07:38 AM
At the beginning of 2017 we all make resolves, resolutions or whatever you want to call them. They are accomplishments you’d like to make throughout the year. I'm thankful for the opportunity to take the time to review at Thanksgiving to see how I’ve measured up and make an extra effort to bring those resolves home as the year ends!
Thanksgiving is a good time to give thanks for the many blessings we are bestowed. Here is a peek into some of my resolves for 2017:
* Be so strong nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
* Talk health, happiness and prosperity to … (25 comments)

debbie reynolds: Thankful for my soulmate - 11/20/17 07:28 AM
Geno and I will be celebrating our 24th anniversary in Febuary 2018. We met at the office (believe it or not). I was a single mom with 2 children and was not even slightly interested in anyone after my divorce. Gene had been single for 12 years.
Our office manager asked Gene why he hadn’t asked me out and he said I don’t date married woman (I wore my wedding ring to discourage any invites). She laughed and told him "She wears a ring to ward off predators like you!"
He tried talking with me and was actually the agent who helped me write … (19 comments)

debbie reynolds: Serendipity Sunday ~ Thankful for endings and new beginnings - 11/17/17 12:54 PM
It’s hard to believe my granddaughter Hailey Stout is a senior this year graduating from Bucknell University! Hailey took her girls volley scholarship seriously and was instrumental in recruiting other excellent players and leading her team as captain to new highs!
Her last season is over and the conference office just released the news Hailey was voted to the Academic All-Patriot League in volleyball for the second straight season! The picture is of her and the other 3 seniors and her phenomenal coach!
Hailey is a market, innovation, and design major with a 3.64 GPA.In addition to her two Academic All-Patriot League awards, she … (24 comments)

debbie reynolds: Thankful for Ard’s Farm in Pennsylvania - 11/17/17 11:32 AM
In the end of September I flew out with my daughter to visit my grand-daughter (my daughter’s daughter) Hailey and watch her play volleyball at Bucknell University. This is her senior year and we loved spending some extra time when she was off the court. She took us to Ard’s Farm Market and it was so much fun!
Ard’s Farm Market is a combination: corn maze, pumpkin patch, candy, fresh vegetables, a few farm animals and a restaurant! Groups from Bucknell come out and eat family style, find some fresh fruits and vegetables while having a good time, a short jaunt from … (14 comments)

debbie reynolds: Thankful for my little girl who has grown to be a loving mom - 11/17/17 08:57 AM
Thank you Debbie Reynolds for this Thanksgiving challenge! This is my #6 thankful entry. I'm writing these in no particular order..just what pops in my head each day!
I’ve always loved the quote “A daughter is a miracle that never ceases to be miraculous.” That is how I feel about my daughter Melissa. She took her sweet time in entering this world as my first child (25 hours in labor) but when she emerged…. what a bundle of energy! She was always on the go, loved to play outside, dance, swim, play dress up, help me bake and never met a stranger. Her … (16 comments)

debbie reynolds: Thankful for my little boy who's grown into a loving man - 11/15/17 08:51 AM
Thank you Debbie Reynolds for this Thanksgiving challenge! This is my #4 entry.
I’ve always loved the saying “Raising boys is an honor and adventure!” not sure who said it but that is the way I feel about my son John Dunham. He was in a hurry to be born as I drove to the hospital (only 5 minutes away) not even taking time to put my convertible top up! I arrived and 35 minutes later the most precious little boy emerged to greet me!
John was a happy, inquisitive child who loved running, playing, swimming and biking and SWIMMING….did I say … (21 comments)

debbie reynolds: Tuesday Treasures ~ Thankful for Siblings ~ #3 - 11/13/17 12:08 PM
Thank you Debbie Reynolds for the 12 days of Thanksgiving contest! It’s a good one to hold at this time of year!
Here is a very recent picture of me and my siblings! November 11th, 2017. We are celebrating our sister Susie’s 75th birthday at a lovely celebration in LA that Susie’s two daughters and step daughters so carefully planned as a surprise!
My brother John lives in Pittsburgh PA with his wife Kathy. They have 2 grown children with a daughter getting married this December.
The 3 of us grew up in upstate N.Y. in Scotia, NY just outside of Schenectady. We lived in … (23 comments)

debbie reynolds: An Amazing Woman ~ Thankful for my sister... Susie - Q - 11/13/17 11:54 AM
I just got back from LA celebrating my sister Susie’s 75th Birthday! Her daughters planned this 6 months ago and what a lovely week-end of honoring Susie on her special day. I live in Austin and my brother and wife live in Pittsburgh and we made sure to come to celebrate this special occasion.

Susie, better known as “Mama Sue” to her blended family, was truly surprised. We were all together 3 years ago when Sue married her next door neighbor in Simi Valley CA after moving away for 10 years to live in Pittsburgh. Sue’s first husband passed away when he … (14 comments)

debbie reynolds: Cover your bases with basics & you'll always have a foot in the door! - 04/19/17 12:55 PM
This month we have some excellent challenges and Debbie Reynolds is hosting a good one on sharing strategies, tips and ideas that can increase your offers to get noticed and accepted.
I’ve discovered if you are covering your bases with the basics you will be assured a foot in the door every time. There is no magic brew and no easy answer to insure you’ll win in every multiple offer situation. But if you’re looking to increase your odds dramatically and make sure your buyers have a better than even chance than make sure you are following these basics:
Know your market
That means making … (39 comments)

debbie reynolds: Thankful for my clients ~ Number 9 Thanksgiving Challenge - 11/22/16 02:50 AM
The Active Rain contest sponsored by  Debbie Reynolds (the real Debbie Reynolds) is one of the most fun challenges! It is the time of year to reflect on our many blessings. Sometimes we forget to acknowledge our family, friends, clients, colleagues, opportunities and natural wonders that affect our well being. It’s all about the journey in this life and we often take it for granted.
I’m blessed with the opportunity to work with so many truly wonderful clients that value what I do and aren’t afraid to tell me or refer me to their family and friends. This validation is important to … (25 comments)

debbie reynolds: A Lesson Learned ~ Trust But Verify - 06/06/16 07:18 AM
I’m enjoying reading the entries to the contest Debbie Reynolds is offering this month! I’m sure we all have learned a lesson or two in our careers and can pick one to share with the Active Rain community.
In our industry we like to think others are trust worthy but as we all learn sadly that isn’t always the case. Many agents promise things verbally and in writing that simply is falsehoods.
I’ve always subscribed to one of Albert Einstein’s quotes “Know where to find the information and how to use it..that’s the secret to success!” If you have a question than research … (35 comments)

debbie reynolds: Ringing and Singing in the Rain with Michael Jacobs - 01/26/16 04:14 AM
Ringing and Singing in the Rain with Michael Jacobs
I am so glad Debbie Reynolds is sponsoring this “Ringing and Singing January Challenge" again this year. My intentions are always to pick up the phone and call those I follow on Active Rain but somehow it doesn’t make my time block thus it doesn’t happen!
For several years I’ve been meaning to call Michael Jacobs because I like his posts, they are peppered with just enough fun mixed with business to allow me (and consumers) a chance to get to know him. Last week after jumping in the car to make a late … (26 comments)

debbie reynolds: Ringing and Singing with Thomas J. Nelson - 01/15/16 04:22 AM
I received the nicest personal note from Thomas J. Nelson thanking me for subscribing to his blog. What does that tell you about him? It told me he is thoughtful and takes the time to go the extra mile!
I gave him a call to chat..after all anyone willing to take the time to send a personal note is someone I want to get to know better. I like the fact that he isn’t afraid to say his wife and family come first. He is a business man and Realtor that has a life..someone well grounded and balanced.
Growing up in a Real … (24 comments)

Ringing Up Evanston IL Friends in the Rain~ Noah Seidenberg

I’m so glad Debbie Reynolds offered this “Ringing and Singing in the Rain”  challenge this month...it nudged me to contact some Active Rain Members I’d been wanting to visit with but haven’t made the time.

I called Noah Seidenberg and he answered on my first try! I’ve been following Noah’s post for some time. I remember when he lost his 91 year old father, Henry (his best friend) in the fall. I could tell from his posts how saddened he was and my heart went out to him. … (24 comments)

Ringing up Northern Virginia Friends in the Rain ~ Amanda Davidson

I left a message with Amanda Davidson and she returned my call and left me a message. On my way to an appointment I tried her again and we connected! This challenge from Debbie Reynolds  “Ringing and Singing In the Rain” is an excellent one, so fun to participate.

I’ve subscribed to Amanda and enjoy reading and commenting on her posts so was fun to get to know her better. Amanda has been in the business for 6 years and is now broker and owner of Living A … (26 comments)
