family fun: A Joyful Family Christmas Eve Tradition - 12/25/23 07:17 AM
Our Christmas Eve tradition begins with attending one of my churches heartwarming, candlelight, Christmas Eve services, setting a joyful tone for our family celebration. I join my son and his family at the church I regularly attend, while my daughter Melissa and her family attend their church. After early attendance, this year at our respective afternoon services, we reunited at Melissa's house for a wonderful early evening of appetizers, lasagna and salad dinner, and an evening filled with games and a lively white elephant exchange.
The warmth of family bonds, coupled with the happy ambiance, makes it a truly special and memorable … (20 comments)

family fun: Serendipity Sundays~ An Action-Packed Saturday of Family Sports - 10/29/23 08:56 AM
Saturday once again brought a day filled with sports for our family! It all began with Handsome Hudson's Pop Warner football game at 9 am. Although it was their final game and they ended up losing, they played a commendable match and were proud of the progress they made in their inaugural season of tackle football.
We all managed to attend Beautiful Beckett's softball game as well. She has one more game to go, and she's already considering signing up for the spring season. She thoroughly enjoys playing and is a capable athlete! Beckett scored two runs once again, which excited her … (25 comments)

family fun: Serendipity Sunday ~ Saturday Sports: Family Wins and Thrilling Games - 10/22/23 06:25 AM
Meanwhile, Hudson was engaged in another basketball game that propelled them to the finals, set to be played today.
We found some time to catch the UT game at 3:00, but it was a nail-biter as they just managed to eke out a win. It wasn't our finest performance, but a win is a win!

family fun: Serendipity Sundays ~ A family That Plays Together Stays Together - 05/06/23 05:23 PM
This was a busy week-end!  Handsome Hudson's last soccer game (tournaments start next weekend) was Saturday morning. It was a humid morning, but we were there to watch and cheer Hudson’s team play in South Austin. They won 2-1! The team played well with everyone hustling.... Well done boys!!

family fun: Seizing the Moment..... - 04/10/22 06:10 AM
I never thought I’d go back to Italy after traveling there many times with my Geno. He always said he wanted me to go back with my daughter, Melissa and my granddaughters, Hailey and Maggie. Well the opportunity presented itself with Maggie studying her spring semester in Florence!
Maggie’s spring break came at a very busy time in real estate but thanks to helpful colleagues I could leave and feel confident my clients were in good hands.

Florence is definitely one of my favorite cities and our time there was amazing, staying in a wonderful apartment in the center of … (16 comments)

family fun: Serendipity Sundays ~ Give it a Spin in Austin - 12/17/21 03:02 PM
Visiting the Austin Trail of Lights and then on for a spin under the Zilker Park Tree, is a must during the holidays in Austin. It’s an iconic tradition our family loves. The last two years we haven’t been able to walk the Trail of lights but can drive through which is second best!

The Zilker Park Tree has a circular base with a 120-foot diameter and a 10-foot wide double star made up of 150 frosted bulbs that sit at the top! It’s155-feet-tall with a total of 3,309 lights, including 39 streamers, each holding 81 multicolored, 245 … (15 comments)

family fun: Serendipity Sundays ~ Embracing New Urbanism at Rosemary Beach - 07/11/21 05:24 PM

I've been missing in the Rain as I just got back from a wonderful week at Rosemary Beach, FL with son and family .....so much fun and loved our beach house. Spent time catching the surf on the 30A Seacrest Beach, pool time, shopping, eating good sea food, watching son and grandson come back from a crushing day of fishing! It felt like we were in an idyllic bubble..kids, parents riding bikes to wherever..a safe environment and Elsa missed us so we had great weather!
I love the concept of the New Urbanism...a return to cozy streets, a slower pace, enjoying … (17 comments)

family fun: Legend or Ruse ~ The Christmas Pickle - 12/02/20 05:10 PM
20 years ago while traveling I learned from a new friend about a tradition that sounded like so much fun at Christmas! I bought a pickle ornament in Germany and brought it home so Geno and I could begin this entertaining tradition with our grand-kids.

I always thought it was a German tradition but over time and reading up on the legend of the Christmas Pickle I learned it's most likely a myth. Probably started by a sales man with an over supply of pickle ornaments. It doesn't matter because we have so much fun hiding the pickle somewhere on our … (26 comments)

family fun: Serendipity Sundays ~ Family Fun - 07/10/20 08:53 AM
The best purchase my daughter Melissa and husband made was a boat this spring. It's a great way to get out with family on the lake and enjoy water activities in the fresh air! COVID 19 has certainly dampened summer time fun with boat ramps and public access to the lakes closed. Since their boat is held at a marina they have access to Lake Travis as well as residents living on the lake with a boat dock.
Spending time with Handsome Hudson and Beautiful Beckett and the whole family has been a real treat and I value each moment we can spend together.

family fun: Saturday's Shots ~ Faster - 05/16/20 12:58 PM
On Mother's Day our family went out to Lake Travis in my daughter and husband's new boat and the kids had so much fun tubing and wake boarding (the bigger kids). Beautiful Beckett who is 5 jumped right on with her dad and held on for a ride in and out of the wake! Handsome Hudson went with dad too but I didn't get as good a picture.
It was so nice to get out on the lake and be with family again....the fresh air, blue skies and water felt good as it splashed on your face and arms.

family fun: Tuesday's Treasures ~ Mozart's Cofee Roaster & Bakery - 12/10/19 05:31 AM
If you are fortunate enough to be in Austin during the holidays you must make time to go to Mozart's Coffee Roaster & Bakery on Lake Austin. It's one of the iconic spots to find the locals with family, kids and dogs. The festivities include taking in the breathtaking Lake Austin views and enjoying the FREE annual Holiday Light Show. The show begins at 6:00 pm (they have one every hour or so) and you'll want to have time to get a hot chocolate or coffee and grab a picnic table.
This year I loved the roses that were made out of … (15 comments)

family fun: Tuesday's Treasures ~ Last Longhorn Football home game - 12/01/19 06:25 PM
Friday after Thanksgiving the Longhorns played their last game at home against the Red Raiders. I think Texas Tech forgot what "Guns Up" meant. The Longhorns soundly beat them 49-24!
Before I left for the game I made sure our Texas Flag was proudly displayed in front of our house.
Geno and I use to go to all the games and still hold season tickets that our children now use. You don't dare give them up! It's been years since I sat in our seats and it was bittersweet. I see why the kids want to hold on to these seats.
It was drizzling but … (22 comments)

family fun: Serendipty Sundays ~ Family Pilgrimage - 11/30/19 07:04 PM
I'm blessed to have such a caring family. This Thanksgiving was the first shared with out Paw Paw. The week-end before Thanksgiving we checked into Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop and the weather was perfect. It was warm enough to swim, fish, give archery a try, bean bag toss competitions and enjoy evening bonfires and cooking
Handsome Hudson tried his hand at archery and couldn't get enough of it!

Beautiful Beckett caught the first fish but was not about to touch that catfish!

Taking some time off and spending it together was perfect to get in the mood to celebrate Thanksgiving. Many years Paw Paw enjoyed coming here at … (18 comments)

family fun: Dishing with Dorie ~ 8/12/19 - 08/11/19 08:14 PM
A blistering hot week-end in Austin! We held 2 open houses on Saturday that produced lots of buyers. No offers yet but hoping soon. A client flew in from CA on Sunday morning and checked out some favorites on their list. We are off today to revisit out our final selections.
Took Geno to his hair stylist for a hair cut and early dinner and son and family came over for a visit Sunday morning and managed to play a few hot domino games!  Beautiful Beckett and Geno were partners was she thrlled when they won. She screamed "we kicked their butts!"  … (11 comments)

family fun: Dishing with Dorie ~ 6 /3/19 - 06/02/19 04:38 PM
A wonderful sunny week-end in Austin! Closed on a home on Friday with my buyers. Met with a couple to list their home the first of September in the community and met with a past client to list their parents home this month. I enjoyed some quiet time in the pool (only wish Geno could join me) and enjoyed a visit from Handsome Hudson, Beautiful Beckett and their parents on Sunday. Granddaughter who just graduated from high school is off to Mexico with a group celebrating graduation but came over for a visit before leaving today.
Our very own Chrissy Hand in … (12 comments)

family fun: Tuesday's Treasures ~ Three Generations - 12/10/18 08:41 AM
Three generations made it a priority to spend quality time to see the Nutcracker this season (Nana, daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughter)! We made a day of it....lunch at Tiny Boxwoods and on to the Long Center for Performing Arts.

It's been years since I've been and I'd forgotten how magical a production Ballet Austin presents for its audience! The graceful dancers with their poise and gorgeous costumes transforms the audience into a wonder of imagination for a few hours. The Austin Symphony Orchestra is always a treat and they were outstanding bringing back so many memories as a child listening to the Nutcracker with my sister.

family fun: Hear The Music Before The Song Is Over - 06/07/10 12:01 AM

So many times we get tied up with our work, blogging and working through our lists we forget to take time and enjoy the fruits of our labor!  Making time for family, friends and things you enjoy doing can get lost in the shuffle of life.  Make sure you hear the music before the song is over!
Oscar Wilde made a comment that I think fits my husband Geno:
"Some cause happiness where ever they go: others Whenever they go!"
Gene has fun and makes friends wherever he goes..people are drawn to him like a magnet..he believes laughter is good for … (15 comments)
