The weekend is here and that means date night for many of us. How about dinner and a movie ~ at the same place? I’ve told you before about The New Galaxy Movie House and Eatery where Geno and I go for a fun date night. We now have another movie theatre that recently opened near the Domain in NW Austin offering the same type of venue.
This week I’ve got another Foodie Friday “Coming Soon”. This will be the 6th location for the quintessential sports bar. They have locations downtown, in SouthPark Meadows and one in the neighboring town of Round Rock. Now they are opening in the Northwest part of town for all us in this neck of the woods.

foodie friday: "Foodie" Friday ~ Try On Demand Service
- 05/02/13 09:01 PM
I was reading an article about how venture capitalists are making bigger bets on food start-ups with on demand delivery service. Well, Austin has been doing this for years with The Soup Peddler! The owner, David Ansel, says his “interest in cuisine was stoked by markets and street food from around the world.” After sending out emails to his friends asking if he could bring them soup. Part of the promise he made to those friends was that he would bring them their soup on a bike…then, as he says: "The Soup Peddler” was born....http://souppeddler.com Here’s how it works: (33 comments)
How about being the Hostess with Mostess this week-end? Like to eat out but also enjoy entertaining but dread the planning and shopping? This is a fun way to take care of meals for an entire month, store them in your freezer “ingredient complete” – then just thaw and cook and serve! It’s called "Dream Dinners" and it’s becoming increasingly popular. Dream Dinners is a unique company founded on the principle of bringing families and friends together around the dinner table. They provide everything you need to put together delicious dinners allowing you time to relax and chat about the day’s events (38 comments)
The weekend is here and while you’re out and about if you are looking for a place to relax and grab a bite to eat - here are a couple of delicious options for you. These bakery/cafes are open for breakfast if you want to start your day off with someone else doing the cooking; or if it’s a sandwich and salad, a burger or just something sweet with coffee these would be great choices to give a try!

This week I am introducing a new segment to Foodie Friday called “Coming Soon”. From time to time when a new restaurant is coming to town, I’ll give you a heads up on what to expect, where it is opening and when. This week, I am featuring a restaurant that will be opening in Avery Ranch by the end of April. Avery Ranch is a large master planned community located off Parmer Lane above Hwy 620.

The weather forecast for this weekend is sunny, 80 and perfect for an afternoon or evening out and about town. This week I’ve got a Mexican theme with one being a true Texas icon and the other is Tex-Mex gone Hawaiian!
1. EL ARROYO http://www.ditch.com/2.0/home/ As they say on their website: “When your name is ‘The Ditch’ your food better be good.” And, it is! The margaritas are hand squeezed and black Angus beef is used in their tacos. Food is taken very seriously at this Austin (33 comments)
Want to feel like an insider? A person in the know? Have you ever overheard someone say "Shhh, it’s a secret!" I recently discovered that some restaurants actually have secret menus - a list of food items you won’t find on their menu boards. It really isn’t anything new, but, not many people know about them; more and more restaurants are adding these to their menu list. Senior Food Editor Bret Thorn of Nation’s Restaurant News says that “If you have a secret menu or if customers know (48 comments)
Planning a night on the town this weekend? But, you want something casual and maybe a little different. How about mixing some old Austin with some new Austin? I’ve got a place to start the evening out with drinks and some light fare; then move on to an Austin icon for a taste of old Texas.
1. CLIVE BAR http://clivebar.com/ To quote one patron: “Think of a ski lodge in the middle of Texas and you’ll start to get an idea of the vibe here.” Got your attention yet? Located in the Rainey (34 comments)
