My sister Sue, better known as Susie, are 4 years apart. We grew up outside of Schenectady N.Y. on 2 acres where we had plenty of room to roam. Our brother was born 4 years after I was so my sister and I played together and shared a room (not often done now) before younger brother came along. Our mom was a stay at home Mom until I was in Junior High School when she went back to teaching Home Economics.
My mom was an excellent seamstress and made us dresses, blouses, suits, jackets and always made us special Easter outfits. The … (14 comments)

gifts: Pay it forward~Austin Children's Center - 12/04/10 09:58 AM
Paying it forward~Today Gene and I had fun Christmas shopping for presents for the Austin Children's Shelter. Our office supports this institution because they provide emergency shelter and high quality care for abused and neglected children. We will take in our gifts to put under our office tree this week. On December 16th our gifts will be taken directly to the Austin Children's Shelter. During the holiday season they need generous support to make sure each child is remembered. It's a difficult time for these vulnerable children and it feels good to know our gifts will make a difference!

gifts: Christmas Photo Challenge ~ Our Special Jewels - 12/01/10 09:37 AM

In 2003 Gene outdid himself on meaningful Christmas gifts.  He ordered five sparkling Waterford Christmas Eggs.  On each egg there is a tag which he had each granchild's name engraved so we have an egg for each child and the year 2003!  Every year I can't help but smile and think of each one as I read their name and hang their egg on our tree.
Gene deserves gold stars for getting these sparkling symbols of our effervescent jewels...all five of them.

Enchanted Christmas Affair 2010 ~ Junior League ~ Austin, TXThis morning was great fun!  I made my annual trek to the Christmas Affair sponsored by the Junior League of Austin.  This year their theme was "Enchanted" and it was executed with snowflakes falling creating an air of childlike wonderment! 
As their brochure said: "Imagine a Forest...a Magical Place Filled with Gifts of Gratitude."  The Thursday morning event is kicked off with a private breakfast and 3 hours of comprehensive shopping for those of us who are serious Christmas shoppers.

It's that time of the year where many participate in their favorite charity events.  Christine Bennett who owns Elite Realtor Solutions is an integral part of our system in place for administering our listings.  
Several  years ago Christine got us involved in purchasing Poinsettias for our clients from the Austin Children's Shelter Guild.  She picks them up and delivers them to us.  It doesn't get any better than that!
