grandchildren: Thankful Thursdays ~ All you need is love and laughter
- 05/08/13 08:50 PM
Thankful Thursdays ~ All you need is love and laughter Paw Paw stopped to see Hudson at day care one morning as he couldn’t resist some special “guy” time. When he texted me this picture all I could think of was the words from August Wilson: “All you need in the world is love and laughter. That’s all anybody needs. To have love in one hand and laughter in the other.”

grandchildren: Thankful Thursday ~ Handsome Hudson (a.k.a. Heartbreaker)
- 05/01/13 08:50 PM
One night while babysitting our grandson Hudson (a.k.a Heartbreaker) showed Paw-Paw his skills of being an engineer and mobile genius (of course my brother insists he is laying the ground work to be an architect like him). He loves to see how things work even at this young age of 7 plus months old. After he let Paw-Paw know he had a firm grasp of how this mobile worked and that it was “his” turn, he got to work showing Paw Paw and I he knew exactly how this whole system worked! Don't you love his deep concentration???

grandchildren: Thankful Thursdays ~ Grandfathers and Grandsons
- 04/17/13 09:12 PM
It's amazing how our "littlest one" is growing! Now at 7 months Mr. Hudson Thomas (heartbreaker) is learning all kinds of things and enjoying time with his Paw Paw. One night while we were babysitting, Paw Paw and Hudson had fun playing with his new puzzle mobile. Hudson likes to work while sitting next to Paw Paw, and reaches out to hold his hand when he wants to take a break ♥♥.

grandchildren: Spring - A Time For CHANGE - A Balancing Act
- 04/08/13 07:05 AM
Last Spring we were happily awaiting a new addition to our family...the “littlest one”! Our son and his wife announced they were expecting at Geno’s birthday dinner last February. They wanted the gender of their baby to be a surprise so the whole family had fun predicting is it a boy or girl? The guessing game continued up to the night our beautiful daughter-in-law delivered! The thrill of our new grandson “Hudson” has brought about a change this spring as we connect and offer time, energy and thoughts towards this precious grandson. Oh I’m not giving up real estate..far from it..but

grandchildren: (Almost speechless Sunday) It takes a real man to wear a pink cast!
- 08/25/12 09:20 PM
Our grandson broke his leg the first part of July playing soccer as a camp counselor for his church summer program. Needless to say it’s been a long hot summer in Texas! The over the knee cast came off and he had another cast made that hits under the knee. He had a choice of an array of colors……so of course he chose pink! His confidence level is high..... he likes to be his own person.....you have to love it!

Saturday, May 29, 2011 in the NW Austin Town and Country League, the "Terminators" team won their championship meet. It was held at the Brushy Creek Community Center and our youngest granddaughter's team started in the play offs at 8am (of course we were there to cheer them on)! grandchildren: Fridays Fotos ~ Queens come in all sizes
- 05/19/11 11:55 PM
Could we have a future Miss Texas among us? Last year our granddaughter, Maggie, decided she wanted to be a queen for Halloween. And, it looks like she got it down pat – tiara positioned correctly, put on that pageant smile, standing straight and tall, sash at just the right angle… The only thing missing are the loyal subjects!

grandchildren: Christmas Photo Challenge ~ Our Special Jewels
- 12/01/10 09:37 AM
In 2003 Gene outdid himself on meaningful Christmas gifts. He ordered five sparkling Waterford Christmas Eggs. On each egg there is a tag which he had each granchild's name engraved so we have an egg for each child and the year 2003! Every year I can't help but smile and think of each one as I read their name and hang their egg on our tree. Gene deserves gold stars for getting these sparkling symbols of our effervescent jewels...all five of them.

grandchildren: It's nice to be important...it's more important to be nice
- 11/22/10 04:41 AM
One of my husband's mantras is: "It's nice to be important..it's more important to be nice". We know how fortunate we are to have 5 wonderful grandchildren. Our oldest granddaughter is 14 and (no prejudice of course) is the sweetest, most even tempered and gracious young lady. Her folks are to be commended on their parental skills because this young lady exhibits great self-confidence, a conscience and wisdom beyond her young years. With everyone's busy schedule it isn't always easy to have time to spend together. Whenever an occasion arises we jump at the chance to have a moment of her time.

grandchildren: The Be Thankful Challenge
- 11/06/10 01:38 AM
Joni Staples got me started after reading her post she wrote about accepting the challenge when she read Lisa Lambert and Donna Foresters posts! A post a day on something we are thankful for is the quest! No points just a challenge to remind us of our bounty in life. At the top of my hit parade are our darling 5 grandchildren! From ages fourteen to nine our energetic angels are growing up and blessing us each day with their creativity and boundless zest for life. I am grateful each day

Our grandson turned 12 years old yesterday, Oct. 14th, 2010. Life is good for this middle school pre-teen young man! Russell has an infectious personality, is a great athlete and is also an excellent student. It's hard not to brag about this remarkable young man!

grandchildren: (Not So) Wordless Wednesday - Anticipation
- 09/15/10 12:08 AM
Several years ago our two granddaughters were in their Aunt's wedding in Dallas. They were all dressed in their bridesmaids dresses, hair curled, head pieces arranged just so, light make-up on and ready for the special event. As the time drew closer they found a seat to share, listened to the soloist's final rehearsal and silently absorbed the electricity in the air! Anticipation...a wonderful thing.

grandchildren: Grandparents Day 2010: September 12
- 09/12/10 01:13 AM
"Happy Grandparents Day" to all of you grandparents out there! Did you know in 1978 President Jimmy Carter signed the first President Proclamation designating the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day! The first official observance was September 9, 1979. It has been celebrated every year since then honoring our nation's grandparents. According to the Census Bureau grandparents play an important role in our lives. Did you know 9% of children in 2009 were living with a grandparent? 30% of younger children under five whose mothers worked outside the home, were cared for by a grandparent during their mothers

grandchildren: Couldn't Be Prouder!
- 06/02/10 08:01 AM
Our granddaughter, Hailey, is one of the sweetest, even tempered and naturally lovely young teenagers! Now I know we are prejudiced because she is our first grandchild. We are privileged to be a part of her life and have been since she was born in Austin, Texas 14 years ago. Hailey is a natural athlete, but, works hard to be the best she can be with long hours of practice and always a positive attitude. Last Friday on her last day of school at Canyon Vista Middle School in NW Austin she was awarded the girls "Athlete Of The Year!" Garrett Gibbons
