I’m so glad to see Girl Scout Troops #1164 and #210 working hard on their 4th Annual Fall Food Drive benefiting Hope Austin! I found a bag (donated by HEB) on my front door step with exactly what donations they need. They are in need of the following items: Pasta Cans/Packets, Soup Cans, Single Serve Apple Sauce and Single Serve Fruit Cups. The food collected on behalf of Hope Austin will help benefit the 500+ kids per week they serve in our local RRISD. Hope Austin was started by two Moms who live in our Canyon Creek neighborhood! The Capitol 10,000 is the largest 10K race in Texas and one of the top 10 in the nation! Its annual race for 2014 is this Saturday April 6th, in downtown Austin. Registration began in October 2013 online at www.cap10k.com and it’s not too late if you want to join in the fun!
Last year there were 18,382 registered participants! It’s amazing because the first race held in 1978 had 3,400 participants.

Canyon Creek Elementary is at it again! The Environment Awareness Committee is calling on the whole community to join in and help recycle your HEB grocery bags. Only HEB bags can be recycled in this program!
When you have 20-50 bags in hand, stack them facing the same direction, then roll them as tightly as possible from the bottom end up to the handle to create a small log. Use two separate bags, one at each end, to tie the log. Everything is bigger in Texas and that includes the new 117,800 square foot HEB Plus store under construction at the southwest corner of Lakeline Boulevard and U.S. Highway 183! Mobile Loaves and Fishes trucks go out every day of the year and feed thousands of homeless people and families who can barely pay their house payments. The trucks are loaded by volunteers but there is a need for donated food items to fill the trucks. Families are needed to donate goods so the trucks can keep rolling. Canyon Creek PTA is calling out for donations to help restock the Mobile Loaves Ministry with the following items that are currently low in supply: CANNED SPAGHETTI SAUCE – no glass jars CEREAL BOXES – regular sized, no jumbo sizes … (11 comments)
