10 different communities in the Hill Country wrap their downtown areas with beautiful Christmas lights all December. Two favorites are the Christmas Walkway of Lights in Marble Falls and Main Street Bethlehem in Burnet.

We’ve had colder than normal temperatures this fall and received more than our fair share of rain but December is offering up some fun activities so make time to enjoy the annual holiday events! Now through December 30th make sure to reserve tickets for “A Christmas Carol” at the Zachary Scott Theatre. March is always an exciting month of fun activities. You won’t want to miss the 89th annual Zilker Kite Festival on March 4th at Zilker Park! SXSW Music & Film Festival will be moving and shaking from March 9 - 18! It’s a crazy time with several locations so expect time delays with driving and might be a good idea to Uber around.
From March 10-24 Rodeo Austin will be rocking at the Travis County Expo Center with some great sounds of music including Glayds Knight! As if there isn’t enough going on … (11 comments)

What an exciting month of fun activities in store for Austin this month! Many favorites that people love: Joe Ely's Birthday Bash at the Paramount Theatre on Feb. 10th, Dancing with the Stars at Bass Concert Hall on the 7th, Bob Schneider & the Moonlight Orchestra at the Austin City Limits Live on the 14th! Billy Crystal will be live at the Long Center on the 27th.

It’s hard to believe this year’s Turkey Trot marks the 25th year anniversary! The ThunderCloud Turkey Trot is the largest five mile run in Texas and one of the largest Turkey Trots in the nation with more than 20,000 participants. The race includes a five-mile run, one-mile run and a kids’ K that all take place outside the Long Center for the Performing Arts.
The Turkey Trot is an Austin Tradition observed by many Austinites. In 2012 several in our immediate family made the 5 mile trek together ....grandson Hudson was only 2 months old and rode comfortably the whole way!! At … (11 comments)

As you know, BBQ is “the” food in Texas. And, this is “the” weekend for BBQ in Texas! It’s the 4th annual Texas Monthly Barbecue Fest on Sunday, Nov. 3rd. Every year, Texas Monthly invites their Top 50 BBQ Joints to this festival, truly a one of a kind event. It’s going to be a fabulous fall weekend in the low-mid 70’s with clear skies – perfect BBQ tasting weather.

I moved to Austin in 1980 and for 33 years have experienced growing pains as Austin matured into a vibrant city, while struggling to retain their identity.
“Keep Austin Weird” is an image held dear to the hearts of many “Austinites”. Austin is as great as everyone makes it out to be.
Our job market is leading the country because Austin attracts talented people across the globe. Austin is a place to exhibit creativity in an open minded, friendly and innovative atmosphere.
