spring: Just Another Day... - 04/04/24 06:43 AM
...in New England.
Here we are on April 4th, 2024. Easter has come and gone but the Spring has not sprung. We're all asking where that #%@^ (Darn) rodent is...lol? As you can see, we had a plowable mixture of rain/snow/sleet overnight. It's 9:30 a.m. as I write this and the wind is really howling with 40-50 mph winds. Interestingly, some of the coastal communities are reporting rain & wind only. The Georgetown, MA area is on the rain/snow line

Here's what the ocean along Plum Island is doing (Live Cam)
Have a great day. I'm venturing out for a meeting

spring: One Day in the Life... - 02/13/24 11:50 AM
I was sitting here in my office taking a break and daydreaming about the upcoming month(s)...
The Northeast was supposed to get whacked with a major snowstorm today. The reports said our area was to receive up to 12" of the white stuff. Then the report went to 6", then 3", and now a dusting. Yesterday based on the report they closed the schools, my VA appt got canceled, they loaded up the plows and sanding trucks and now we get nothing. Fine with me (this year has been a weird winter)
On another note, Spring is right around the corner.
How do I … (16 comments)

spring: Will the Answer Be... - 02/02/24 09:24 AM
...An Early Spring?
I hope so because down in Gobblers Knob, PA over 45,000 people gathered to hear what ole Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous groundhog in the United States, was going to predict. After much revelry, pomp, and circumstance, the Chief Prognosticator issued the order to roust Phil from his winter sleep and prepare to give his prediction.
It took a bit to get Phil out of his comfy spot
After much fanfare upon Phil's appearance, he issued his prediction
Punxsutawney Phil said "An Early Spring is on the way"
Sellers, get those homes ready for the active market!

spring: New Beginnings... - 03/01/23 07:15 AM
I look at Spring as the yearly signal for new beginnings and March as the in-between Winter and Spring month. Yes, we're expecting more snow in Northeastern Massachusetts, after a mild Winter but soon new leaves, grass, and flowers will pop into the scene and the list for Spring cleaning is being developed (or should I say the honey-do list?😁)
March is here!
March is an exciting time of year for me. This year, once the snow goes, I'm going to build/assemble four (4) raised-bed garden areas for a variety of veggies, herbs, and maybe some berry trellises.
For Realtors, much of the … (14 comments)

spring: The First Day of May - 05/01/22 06:54 AM
Happy May Day! The 1st of May is also known as International Workers Day and since we as Realtors work as hard as any other worker, Thank you for your dedication to the public by helpinbg them through the purchase and/or sale of Real Estate.
Now that May is here the gardens will be planted, and curb appeal will be enhanced. Now let's pray that inventory will increase so buyers in waiting are able to participate in the American Dream of homeownership.

spring: Spring Market Expectations - 03/31/22 12:19 PM
Spring has Sprung in many parts of the nation. There are still some areas in the northern reaches and higher elevations of the country where it is cold and snowy still, but nonetheless, Spring is here and the Spring Market for Real Estate is preparing to enter into high gear. I've noticed increased listings for some communities in our area and... they are being sold quickly.
Below is an article prepared by the folks at KCM on their view of the Spring Market and what to expect.

spring: It's That Time Again! - 03/12/22 08:25 AM
Good Morning.
Aside from a freak Spring snowstorm, we've made it to the precipice of Spring. I consider Daylight Saving Time as the inauguration of Spring, that time of year nature comes out of its winter resting period. I've noticed the local garden centers are gearing up. All the gardening and yard care products are fully stocked and the flower & vegetable seeds are in the racks.
One day, soon, we'll awaken and there will be new leaf buds on the trees, crocuses will be popping through the unfrozen ground, birds will be back to wake everyone up, windows will be opened, and … (14 comments)

spring: Alive & Well? - 03/07/20 09:07 AM
I was sitting here with thoughts of Spring and decided to take a look at the whole Georgetown, MA Real Estate Market. Mind you, Georgetown is a town of roughly 8700 with approximately 3000 households.
Here's a March 7 look at the Georgetown, MA Real Estate Market: There are currently: 6 Single Family residences on the Active Market 3 Condominiums 1 Multi-Family 4 Tracts of Land 2 Commercial Rentals Meanwhile, there are 16 properties currently progressing to closing. And 13 more properties have SOLD/Closed in the last 3 months (typically slow months) Diagnosis: The Georgetown Real Estate Market is Alive and … (2 comments)

spring: Don't Forget To... - 03/06/20 10:02 PM
That's right! Spring is fast upon us. Tonight we set our clocks forward 1-hour (EXCEPT those in AZ. They get to miss the excitement...lol).
In the Real Estate world, there is much expectation about the Spring Market. Everyone talks about it.
Spring is that time of year for renewal. I've already gotten my burning permit from the local Fire Department. I'm making a list of the outdoor jobs around the house like replacing a couple of deck boards, reattaching the lattice the Winter wind dislodged, lawn work of course and some other stuff.
As usual, when you are changing your clocks before retiring make … (18 comments)

spring: What's in a Name? - 03/13/19 10:14 AM

Bet you don't know about "BIG CHEEKS"

A grandson of slaves, a boy was born in a poor neighborhood of New Orleans known as the "Back of Town."
His father abandoned the family when the child was an infant.  His mother became a prostitute and the boy and his sister had to live with their grandmother.
Early in life, he proved to be gifted for music and with three other kids he sang in the streets of New Orleans. His first gains were coins that were thrown to them.

spring: Here It Comes...FINALLY - 03/08/19 06:37 AM
Spring is getting closer and closer. As I look out my office window I see mounds of snow, it's 14 degrees outside BUT the sun is out, I don't see a cloud in the sky and hope burns eternal that the Spring warmup will begin. When I look at Spring I start with markers along the way, such as the Red Sox Spring Training in February, then The Daytona 500, a couple of weeks later and my 3rd marker....Daylight Savings Time!!!

The flowers will soon pop through the thawed soil, landscapers will be out and about, Spring cleaning chores will be worked out, … (20 comments)

spring: National Search... - 03/06/19 07:10 AM
As I sit here nursing a sidelining head cold I became aware of the national search for the nefarious Puxatony Phil...alledged prognosticator of Spring weather. Early signs of Spring came and went. One of my neighbors said they saw a small flock of Robin Red-Breast birds. But since then I came across this wanted poster. Be careful, he's furry and cute but will lie to your face.

spring: How Many Phils Are There? - 02/03/19 11:03 AM
Of course, there's only 1 Puxatawney Phil BUT what I didn't know was how many States have their own version of Pennsylvania's Puxatawney Phil. Here's a map. AND I found a couple others not listed.
