The rail line running through Dover and into Needham has been decommissioned since 2008. There appears to be an active group researching the viability of creating a bike trail along this seven mile run of line. It seems as though owners, Bay Colony and MBTA, may be in agreement over this conversion. The main group investigating this operation is "Needham Bikes" headed by bike enthusiasts. The formulation of this new project is "The Bay Colony Rail Trail Project". Since rail to trail projects have been completed in other Massachusetts communities, there is lots of inspiration out there to gain insight and help … (0 comments)

dover: Missing Swan in Dover. - 11/16/09 02:44 AM
New swans arrived to the pond on Wilsondale Street this morning and one seems to be on the run. The owners just drove them back from PA and let them loose this morning. It's a beautiful sight seeing them frolicking about. The vast number of wildlife hungting for prey at night took the two previous swans. These new owners were hoping for a smoother transition.
If anyone happens to be walking the trails of Noanet Woods or Hale Reservation and sees a stray swan please call Gray at 508-785-1128.

dover: "Six-figure Zip Codes" by Globe Newspaper, article April 15, 2007 - 08/09/08 12:51 AM
Appearing in the Boston Globe on April 15, 2007 is an article covering Dover, MA, a Metro West Suburb, and other Massachusetts suburbs. Dover, zip code 02030, is listed as one of the top wealthy zip codes. The community zoning bylaws strongly favor acre (plus) zoning. There are minimal areas with smaller lot sizes. Since Dover is a small community, the acre zoning attracts individuals looking for larger lots and acreage. Dover is radically different from the abutting neighboring towns with smaller lots and big town centers which have benefits not offered in the community of Dover. Additional major attractions in Dover are the vast open … (0 comments)

dover: Article, Meet the Real Estate Professionals, July/August 2007 - 07/02/08 01:52 PM
New England Home Magazine, July/August 2007, Meet the Professionals. Most recent notable sales - two small estates in Dover with views of the Charles River. There are certain special properties in every community that should be shared. These two properties are located on scenic Willow Street, Dover, MA and have that undefineable characteristic of an idyllic setting. The charm, character and proximity to larger communities nearby as well as the city of Boston make them highly desireable. It's all about the location. Opportunities like these only come around once in a while.
